As a Managing Consultant you will have responsibility for client management, solution implementation, and development of project results. You will own the delivery of project workstreams and interact with the client daily to ensure engagement success. This includes supporting/leading day-to-day internal team meetings and coordinating/facilitating meetings with clients and their stakeholders. You will be expected to prepare and communicate well-organized, effective reports and presentations to client and internal executives. You will lead, coach, and mentor others on the team to ensure quality analysis and deliverables.

Members of our team work with clients involved in a wide range of energy-related activities including distributed energy resource (DER) strategies (energy efficiency, demand management, renewable energy). We also support clients in grid modernization and to define decarbonization pathways. You will perform a wide range of activities, which may include program evaluation, program, project and policy planning, customer program strategies, and market and technology assessments. This includes involvement and interaction with utility companies, program implementers, government agencies, industry representatives, solution providers, trade organizations, end-use customers, and industry advocates.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Managing small teams responsible to provide detailed fact finding, research, and analysis on energy-related activities (particularly energy efficiency, grid modernization, renewable energy, customer programs, new business models and sustainability)

  • Performing, advising, and reviewing technology assessments, statistical and economic analyses, and spreadsheet creation and management

  • Facilitate workshops and working sessions between client departments and organizations; lead discussions, form relationships and facilitate consensus-building

  • Communicating solutions and new strategies to clients through reports and presentations

  • Organizing and prepare reports, presentations and other documents for client deliverables

  • Working effectively with colleagues and client staff as part of a project team; work independently as needed.


  • Bachelors or Masters degree in an engineering, business, economics, environmental, science or related discipline; AND the following experience:

  • Bachelors degree and 7+ years of relevant industry or consulting experience (excluding internships,coops, or fellowships)

  • Masters degree and 5+ years of relevant industry or consulting experience (excluding internships,coops, or fellowships)

  • Documented experience leading small teams

  • Client service orientation

  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency with data analytics

  • Strong interest in business strategy, energy efficiency, and sustainability

  • An inquisitive nature and desire for continuous improvement

  • Superior interpersonal skills

  • Ability to collaborate as a part of team, as well as to work independently

  • Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously, prioritize and plan work activities while meeting respective deadlines.

  • Highly developed organizational and management skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to travel as needed

Preferred Qualifications

In additon to the above listed:

  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint

  • Experience creating models within Excel and/or experience with R or other programming languages (e.g. Python)

  • Understanding of business and project management fundamentals

  • Tireless attention to detail in all prior experience (academic and professional)

  • Experience developing and delivering presentations to executive audiences

  • Excellent at visualizing data, synthesizing insights, and storytelling with data

  • A history of successful, creative problem-solving

  • Excitement to explore the underlying cause of the observation/result

Additional Requirements
