WHAT YOU'LL DO

This role will support the implementation and success of Bain’s technology strategy by ensuring we are making strategic investments in the right areas. Leveraging business acumen, a deep understanding of Bain’s business, and effectively partnering across different levels of the organization, this role will implement demand governance (capture firm priorities, define value, and frame tradeoffs needed to execute), increase capacity visibility, and drive complex major programs. This person will be a key advocate for delivering a world-class technology experience, demonstrate an appreciation for how the enterprise succeeds, and understand how information and technology contribute to that success. This role requires a self-starter able to independently identify value-add opportunities, take on challenges, and find solutions.

Portfolio Demand Management

  • Implement IT demand management model, to make our planning processes more agile and ensure our IT investments are persistently aligned with firm priorities

  • Serve as central intake point for IT demand, sourced from internal initiatives and business priorities, partnering with initiative owner to define value and impacts across technology teams (product and technical delivery)

  • Identify, recommend, and frame trade-off options required to deliver on our highest priorities, working with the Senior Manager of the OCIO

  • Drive decision on trade-offs and investment areas with CIO & TSG Leadership

Major Program Management

  • Support major programs, through overall governance and driving tactical execution of complex initiatives (e.g. M&A IT integration, PPM platform)

  • Help facilitate standing forums to connect program managers with each other and leadership for visibility and guidance

Capacity Visibility

  • Provide visibility into resource capacity across TSG

  • Work across IT verticals to understand allocations, capacity, and resource gaps, in order to ensure we have the right people invested in the right areas

  • Establish the right leadership forums to weigh tradeoffs and drive decision among CIO & TSG Leadership

  • Other tasks as assigned

ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 5-8+ years of experience

  • Experience working with multiple large scale projects with multiple customer groups successfully

  • Experience translating needs between business and IT, to convey value/impacts

  • Experience leading projects or initiatives

  • Enterprise portfolio management experience is preferred

  • Able to see and articulate the big picture

  • Decisive: Have the experience and willingness to make tough decisions

  • Pragmatic: Find solutions rather than add complexity

  • Proactive: Behave as self-starters who spot issues that need to be addressed and take action

  • Persuasive: Able to influence change without having direct authority over it. Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with people regardless of their technical skill set

  • Collaborative: Know how to break down barriers and work with all involved to find solutions

  • Critical Thinker: Able to assess, internalize, and reconstruct a problem objectively to identify solutions/options

  • Data-driven: Strong data analytics and visualization skills, able to pull out insights to drive decisions among leadership is preferred
