Wayfair Manager, Packaging Design and Development in Boston, Massachusetts

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Wayfair is looking for a seasoned Manager, Packaging Design to support our retail packaging initiatives and help build and grow our retail packaging center of excellence. As we prepare to launch and significantly scale our physical retail stores across all brands (Wayfair, Joss and Main, Birch Lane, All Modern and Perigold) - we are looking for an experienced hands-on design leader who can thoughtfully translate our established brand standards and graphic assets to engaging retail packaging for diverse products and categories across home decor, decorative accessories, textiles and other home goods categories.&nbsp;</span></p>


<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Manager will work closely with internal stakeholders across merchandising, visual merchandising, creative operations, production, procurement/sourcing and other teams to support store launch activities across our family of brands. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include project briefings, retail operations meetings, creative development, project management and other store launch activities. Ideal candidates are team oriented, great collaborators, resourceful, organized, love the details and thrive on the unexpected - all while working on high visibility projects.</span></p>


<p><strong>What you’ll do:</strong></p>


<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Deliver engaging, strategic and compelling packaging design that enhances the customer shopping experience and engagement with our products in store and at shelf across our portfolio of brands and future retail footprint.</span></li>

<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Working closely with Head of Retail Packaging, Merchants, Creative Directors, Visual Merchandising - ensure packaging design and strategies across the Wayfair family of brands supports retail business strategies and in concert with visual merchandising presentation plans.</span></li>

<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Create scalable design systems that can be adapted across diverse product categories and package formats to support the customer experience and help build brand awareness through comprehensive packaging systems, standards, specifications, assets and packaging style guides.</span></li>

<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Partner with internal and external creative, stakeholders, suppliers and partners on category design extensions, production artwork execution and deliverables.&nbsp;</span></li>

<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Support the Head for Retail Packaging in building an internal packaging design team and creating a Packaging Center of Excellence for long-term support as our footprint in Physical Retail scales across brands and geographies.</span></li>

<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Design, develop and maintain our packaging style and artwork guides to document our packaging standards and specifications</span></li>

<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Support Physical Retail launch and store opening activities as assigned</span></li>



<p><strong>What you’ll need:</strong></p>


<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">5+ years hands-on packaging design and packaging production experience with increasing responsibilities demonstrated through a portfolio work across diverse product categories</span></li>

<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Expert in delivering packaging design concepts and artwork assets across a variety of packaging formats and specifications within consumer packaged goods companies or retail private brand or agency&nbsp;</span></li>

<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Experienced designer adept at leveraging and applying existing brand standards and assets across product packaging, presenting creative and gaining alignment and input from stakeholders</span></li>

<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Able to collaborate across all levels of the organization to achieve goals, using influence to build relationships across the extended creative, branding, visual merchandising and merchant organizations</span></li>

<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Comfortable presenting creative solutions to stakeholders as well as understanding and accepting/receiving feedback and input for continuous iteration of creative concepts</span></li>

<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Proven team management and leadership skills; can inspire and motivate teams to bring future state vision to life</span></li>

<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Experience working with overseas vendors and other global partners</span></li>

<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Comfortable working in highly ambiguous, high growth environments, building programs, processes, systems from the ground up</span></li>

<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Extremely detail oriented, organized and proactive problem solver</span></li>

<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">High degree of flexibility and adaptability to swiftly changing project and business needs</span></li>

<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced environment</span></li>

<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Proficiency Adobe creative suite software - Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat</span></li>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a similar field is preferred.</span></p>
