Medidata is looking for an experienced, hands-on engineering manager to lead a team of 4-6 engineers to design, implement, and enhance new features and functionality in one of Medidata’s fastest growing brands -- Medidata AI. The role will be focused on building out the Integrated Evidence product suite. IE connects historical data from more than 23,000 cross-sponsor clinical
Your Competencies
Provide clear, consistent leadership, management and mentoring for direct reports and the broader technology organization. Inspire, empower, and motivate the team, leading by example.
Help team members increase the breadth and depth of their technical and soft skills.
Perform personnel management tasks for all developers, including performance reviews, promotions, compliance with company policies, mentoring, and helping plan career growth.
Design, enhance, and manage execution through production, features for a large-scale service environment using OO principles with a deep focus on performance, scalability, quality, and extensibility
Build relationships with product management and other key stakeholders to enable development teams to understand the business objects to more effectively refine system requirements and size delivery efforts.
Embrace test-driven development with complete code coverage and continuous integration
Provide diagnostic support and fix bugs for service features
Prioritize technical debt within team’s backlog
Follow Medidata’s Standard Operating Procedures to ensure all software meets regulatory and company requirements
Work with Agile team members, particularly Data Engineering, Data Science, and Product Management, to write clear, concise, and comprehensive user stories including acceptance criteria and test use cases
Participate in Agile working practices such as daily scrum meetings, backlog refinement, sprint planning meetings, reviews, and retrospectives
Consistently execute against a product roadmap to deliver multiple features to production during a release cycle
Share your knowledge and experience with a highly motivated and collaborative team regarding code reviews, software designs and all other engineering and business aspects
Demonstrated ability as an effective mentor and coach who understands how to successfully integrate into a team of talented developers
Proven technical leadership regarding feature design, enhancement, and implementation within a single-instance multi-tenant service environment
Ability to solve complex problems and provide solutions that can be applied in a service environment
Full-Stack software development experience architecting and building robust distributed systems that scale well
Proven track record of meeting schedules; clearly defining deliverables and timetables, with demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities in complex environments and manage teams to successful project completion
Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
Prior experience building cloud-based solutions, especially on AWS and a broad understanding of API technologies
Strong knowledge of databases, both SQL and NoSQL and experience with service-oriented and event-driven system architectures
Understanding of the data and analytics landscape, including experience delivering capabilities that leverage deep learning technologies. Experience in the Life Sciences domain is preferred, especially with clinical/real world data.
Your Education & Experience:
Ideal candidate should have a B.S./M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent and 7+ years proven experience working as a software engineer
2+ years of experience managing a high-performing engineering team

As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location.
The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the Boston Metro Area is $113,250 to $151,000.
Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata’s non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
