Lead Signal Engineer

The Lead Railway Signal Engineer will be responsible for coordination of Signal Engineering activities from the local project office ensuring successful deployment of Accutrack project solutions on the MBTA throughout the Design, Construction, Commissioning and Revenue service phases. The Signaling Engineering Site Lead brings Signaling expertise to the customer site to enable real-time design support, planning, and training. The Signaling Engineering Site Lead transfers the customer expertise to the Engineering team through real-time operational analysis, problem solving.

In this role you will interface directly with the Customer Representatives and Site Project Teams to ensure that the Signalling System Design meets the operational needs of the customer throughout the project life cycle by evaluating design trade-offs, balancing technical risk, defining and assessing migration strategy, keeping close coordination with design, verification and validation activities and with project deployment activities, in line with the System / Subsystem Schedule. You will lead the Signal Engineering team to provide technical solutions to the specific needs expressed by the customer.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop the Signaling Migration Strategy, including phasing and integration plans

  • Apply the system engineering processes to drive design decisions that will minimize system downtime during deployment

  • Ensure that the system technically fulfills the defined needs for constructability, maintainability, and scalability to ensure future expansion

  • Support to Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety Analysis.

  • Minimize, by design, the System deployment cost, lead time and risks

  • Contribute to the definition and maintenance of the System Baselines, analyze and implement Change Requests

  • Prepare and participate in Design Reviews

  • Contribute to system configuration activities, to requirement management activities

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Experience in rail transit signaling (signalling) engineering domain with demonstrated proficiency in principles design, verification, operations planning, and commissioning in the rail transit signaling domain.

  • Previous experience as a signal engineer (rail transit signaling systems engineer) or a signal designer (signaling systems designer)
