Our design studio, located steps from the iconic Boston Garden, is home to over 50 design professionals that comprise the New England Community Development division of Stantec. A niche sector in that division, the Sport Group, is dedicated specifically to athletic facility design including large and small athletic venues such as natural grass and/or synthetic turf multipurpose, soccer, football, field hockey, lacrosse, baseball, softball fields in addition to track and field, tennis, basketball, and action sport facilities. Our team designs these facilities for a wide range of municipal, private, high school, collegiate, and professional clients.
Your Opportunity
We are seeking a Landscape Designer/ Architect to work in our Boston office with Senior Landscape Architects, Civil Engineers and Site Planners as part of a multi-disciplinary design team on a wide variety of sport projects. Candidates will support the design team with site analysis, concept design, production of construction documents, project presentation graphics, project management, and construction administration efforts. This position is ideal for candidates that are willing to learn, grow and enhance their professional skills and advance professionally in the long term.
Your Key Responsibilities
Design and production on a wide range of project sizes and types, from Concept Design through Construction.
Prepare plans and reports for projects
Partnering with the design team for planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating the technical aspects of projects.
Communicates effectively with clients and other team members to resolve technical project issues. Present and explain designs and provide service to meet client’s goals.
Participates with other members of the design team to finalize project designs.
As part of the construction administration team, effectively communicates with contractors to implement plan design.
Reviews and responds to construction related RFIs and submittals.
Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Familiarity with plant materials suited to the Northeast region
General knowledge and interpretation of code compliance requirements and industry standards.
Knowledge of construction document preparation
Significant technical knowledge recognizing when problems are developing and initiating appropriate corrective actions using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
Comprehensive understanding of all areas of design and various design methods.
Proficient in relevant drafting/design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, InDesign, and Adobe Acrobat.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Landscape Architecture or related field. Minimum of 1-5 years of experience.
