We are seeking a Laboratory Technician for Alexandria LaunchLabs located at the Alexandria Center ® at One Kendall Square. This individual will be hospitable, detail-oriented, and interested in contributing to the growth of the entrepreneurial life science ecosystem in the Greater Boston region. As a core member of the LaunchLabs team, this individual will be expected to attend on-site social programming events to help build relationships within our Alexandria LaunchLabs member community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist the Alexandria team in supporting multiple BSL2 laboratories and site operations at the One Kendall Square campus, particularly for the Alexandria LaunchLabs member companies, as follows.

• Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of shared lab equipment, including, but not limited to, freezers, incubators, centrifuges, and biosafety cabinets to ensure efficient operations and cleanliness

• Be responsible for ordering, maintaining, organizing, and stocking lab supplies and lab gasses

• Manage chemical and biohazard waste in laboratories while adhering to regulatory guidance

• Assist with lab sustainability initiatives pertaining to plastics and lab gloves

• Operate autoclave and lab dishwashers to support LaunchLabs members

• Assist the Lab Director with the LaunchLabs lab safety program

• Duties may include the handling of hazardous materials in responsibilities defined above

• Interface with vendors responsible for operational tasks (e.g., janitorial, pest control, lab vendors, facilities maintenance)

• Assist with general site operations, including package management, IT/AV troubleshooting, facilities request triaging, organizing, stocking, and maintaining office and kitchen supplies

• Assist LaunchLabs team in coordinating, marketing, and hosting local ecosystem and strategic programming events to foster a vibrant and collaborative Alexandria LaunchLabs community, including business and professional development sessions, social gatherings, and complementary programs

Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a science-related organization or laboratory space, preferably in a collaborative or shared working environment

• Strong customer service mindset and verbal and written communication skills to interact with individuals at all levels

• Strong ability to be detail-oriented and highly organized, and to work independently

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and prioritize tasks effectively

• A general interest in life science and/or laboratory operations management

• Bachelor’s degree preferred

• Ability to physically lift ≥25 lbs.
