This Laboratory Processing Technician will be responsible for:

  • Performing pre‑analytical specimen processing including stamping in, verifying I.D., identifying tests, and evaluating specimen quality and appropriate test set up.

  • Performing computer order entry and inquiry functions.

  • Providing courteous and timely customer service to providers calling into the lab.

  • Performing, documenting, and evaluating daily QC and follows procedure when QC is out of range.

  • Performing routine operation and maintenance of instrumentation in the work area such as centrifuges, refrigerators, and freezers.

  • Maintaining workplace in a neat and orderly fashion.

  • Continuously monitoring specimen workflow. Ensuring quick response for STAT and other timed tests.

  • Participating in departmental continuous improvement projects as necessary.

To qualify, you must have:

  • A high school level of educational development and 3 to 6 months of work experience.

  • The skills to read and understand instructions, add and subtract numbers, and make comparisons between numbers and letters.

  • The ability to exchange information on factual matters, schedule appointments, greet visitors, explain hospital policies, and/or relay messages to appropriate personnel.

  • Courtesy and delicacy when dealing with patients, visitors and/or hospital employees. More sensitive situations may be referred to others as appropriate.

NOTE: For Blood Bank Employees - Successful completion of the hospital’s Trustworthiness and Reliability assessment. Unescorted access to the Blood Bank Irradiators is a requirement of the position.


Monday - Friday 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm, w/rotating weekends and holiday: (Full time)

Please note: During a public health emergency, individuals in this role may be expected to take on additional duties to respond to organizational needs.
