Boston University LABORATORY MANAGER, School of Medicine, Microbiology in BOSTON, Massachusetts

Dr. Anthony Griffiths laboratory at Boston University's National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories (NEIDL) is seeking a highly motivated and organized candidate to work as a Lab Manager. The Griffiths group works to understand the molecular biology and pathogenesis of viruses that require maximum containment, including Nipah virus, Lassa virus, Ebola virus, and Marburg virus.

In the role of a Lab Manger the candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Manages Research Assistants in the group; this includes managing their schedules and their workloads.

  • Works closely with Dr. Griffiths and other lab members to predict and respond to changes in current and future projects that affect Research Assistants' workloads.

  • Assists in the execution of projects as needed.

  • Predicts supply and reagent needs for current and future projects.

  • Assures supplies and reagents are always available.

  • Train new technical staff.

  • May develop laboratory processes and SOPs.

  • Provide assistance to technical staff in identifying, assessing, and reporting study deviations.

  • Develops and prepares laboratory and process related SOPs and documents.

  • Performs laboratory or other study-related duties as needed.

  • Provides support to technical staff in the organization and review of study worksheets, logs, data and notebooks.

  • Participates in annual performance review of assigned staff.

  • Performs other duties as required.

Required Skills

Master’s degree and 2 years of experience required.
