Position Summary:

The Ruby on Rails Software Engineer will support, maintain, & develop CCA business applications. This position will be involved in various stages of the end-to-end software development lifecycle, with specific responsibilities related to the requirements, architecture, design, development and support of web applications.


  • Support the maintenance and enhancement of business critical web-based applications in production

  • Conduct technical root cause analysis and lead solution for production issues

  • Support the analysis of business requirements, design specifications, development, and technical and user documentation of report development through direct interaction with internal customers

  • Communicates status issues and changes to appropriate audience

  • Support the research, recommendation and innovation of new web & digital development technologies

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years web application development experience

  • Minimum 1 year of working experience with Ruby on Rails

  • Solid understanding of front-end technologies (JavaScript/JQuery, HTML5/CSS3) and modern frameworks (Angular, react, ember….)

  • Any experience with Drupal/SharePoint on premise/cloud is a plus

  • Solid Linux server skills

  • Solid SQL skills using MySQL, SQL Server

  • Experience using agile development methodologies

  • Experience using version control systems

  • Knowledge of Testing/QA processes including automated front end and unit testing

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills; attention to detail; and ability to coordinate multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines

  • Self-motivation, ability to work effectively as a member of a team or independently as the particular assignment requires

  • Strong written and oral communication skills - excellent customer service focused approach in working with internal and external customers

  • Bachelor's Degree or Master’s Degrees in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related area. Equivalent experience may substitute for degree requirement.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience developing software solutions for life sciences or healthcare applications and working in a regulated environment (e.g. HIPAA, CLIA, FDA, SOX).

  • Working knowledge of Agile frameworks (Scrum) and tools (Atlassian Jira).

  • Experience with one or more development technology stacks or frameworks (such as Angular, React, Node, Java, Python, etc.)

  • Experience with RESTFul API and microservices development

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure Cloud infrastructure & CI/CD Experience
