IT Financial Analyst

Department Description:Information Technology (IT) has undertaken a multi-year effort to harmonize IT systems across Beth Israel Lahey Health. IT staff members may have the opportunity to participate in special projects that span Beth Israel Lahey Health as part of this harmonization effort. This position may be assigned to work on special projects, and other job duties, as needed.

Job Summary:Responsible for financial and budgeting support for the division or department. Reconciles monthly accounts, and prepares and analyzes budgets and financial reports for multiple accounts.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provides financial data, maintains and updates financial models and plans.

  • Reviews, processes and tracks POs and payments. Reconciles bills, vendor purchase orders and invoices, requisitions, and requests for payments. Works with vendors to settle billing disputes.

  • Responsible for managing small, specific team(s) within BILH IT and specific types of expenses for the department including purchasing, invoice payments, billing and deposits, financial reports, and reconciliations.

  • Responsible for providing software and hardware quotes to IS Support Services for Inventory Control and, in general, for other departments in the hospital wanting to purchase using their own funds. Requests for quotes come from the ServiceNow ticketing system. Responsible for getting the best price for each product.

  • Prepares a variety of reports and analyses to monitor progress, productivity and results of the financial activities of the division/department. Prepares special financial studies as needed.

  • Provides financial data, maintains and updates financial models and plans.

  • Tracks variances against budget throughout the year based on budget versus actual expense for the department and/or known items not being renewed.

  • Provides any additional support required by team management and provide coverage for other team members when he/she is not available.

  • Maintains solid relationships within BILH's Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Finance department, and vendors.

  • Provides complex analyses of operating expenses, vendors and/or capital.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • 1-3 years related work experience required.

  • Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.

  • Written Communications:Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English with internal and external customers.

  • Oral Communications:Ability to comprehend and converse in English to communicate effectively with medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.

  • Knowledge:Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to use them in routine situations. Specialized knowledge not required.

  • Team Work:Ability to work collaboratively in small teams to improve the operations of immediate work group by offering ideas, identifying issues, and respecting team members.

  • Customer Service:Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

Physical Nature of the Job:

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally in carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling objects. Sitting most of the time, with walking and standing required only occasionally
