MassMutual Investment Product Analyst in Boston, Massachusetts

The Opportunity

The Investment Product Analyst position is within the Institutional Insurance business of MassMutual’s Institutional Solutions division. We’ve been in the Institutional Insurance business for over 30 years, responsible for the sales, service and product development supporting over 3,000 institutional clients, over 91,000 policies and over $27 billion of assets. In this position, you will be the nexus for investment fund data, reporting and diligence for strategies across a wide range of asset classes, supporting our Bank Owned Life Insurance (BOLI), Corporate Owned Life Insurance (COLI), Insurance Company Owned Life Insurance (ICOLI) and Private Client Group (PCG) product lines. You will be exposed to all facets of the business, from product development, through sales, service and technology.

The Team

The team is small, close-knit, and highly collaborative. This role will be a critical full-time member of the team and will have wide exposure throughout the value creation process. The Investment Analyst will support the investment aspects of the Institutional Insurance business, including working closely with leading third party asset managers, analytics platforms, marketing and regulatory teams as well as other team members across the Institutional Solutions division.

The Role

The Investment Product Analyst will support the management of our growing fund platform, diligence on and governance of a wide variety of registered funds and separately managed accounts, sourcing of new investment opportunities for our clients and ensuring compliance with varied regulatory and disclosure requirements.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Maintain the master fund data set for all funds utilized within the Institutional Insurance platform

  • Ensure marketing materials, administrative systems and regulatory systems are utilizing consistent and accurate information

  • Act as a liaison between Institutional Insurance and regulatory areas for annual document updates and filings

  • Create a system for monitoring quantitative and qualitative metrics for funds across the platform

  • Perform competitive research and benchmarking of competitor offerings

  • Manage performance reporting and support the Performance & Reporting Team for adds/moves/changes and quality assurance

  • Assist with diligence and market research for new products and funds

  • Improve processes and procedures to create more impactful and timely output for our clients and prospects

  • Participate in projects and business initiatives where investment related support is needed

The Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • At least 3 years of investment related experience

  • Passion in finance / investments, with a strong understanding of accounting principles

  • Comfortable working with concepts of mutual funds and related investment vehicles

  • Candidate should have, at a minimum, a broad understanding of the roles, responsibilities and motivations of the primary participants in the investment management ecosystem

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral

  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills

  • Ability to multitask and deliver work products on short timeframes

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skill set

  • Ability to work closely with external investment partners and internal management

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to succeed in a team environment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point and Word)

  • Strong computer skills including experience with financial applications

  • Ability and openness to understanding operational, accounting, and legal aspects of investments and insurance products

The Ideal Qualifications

  • Professional experience working with various commingled and bespoke investment strategies across asset classes

  • Strong preference for candidates with experience using investment data and analytics platforms such as Morningstar Direct, Evestment and Bloomberg.

  • Preference for a current candidate in or experience with the CFA, CIMA or CAIA programs

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, finance, accounting, economics or a technical field
