Position Summary: The Innovation Design Lead in Well-B’s Innovation Center will conduct market, competitor, and consumer research; will conduct empathy interviews, develop personas, and create journey maps; will crowdsource, brainstorm, and define innovative ideas; will design and develop concepts; and will prototype, pilot, and test solutions. This position reports to the Innovation Director/Sr. Innovation Director. In collaboration with BCBSMA business leaders and industry stakeholders, in alignment with BCBSMA strategic priorities, this position will drive innovative initiatives from idea to market.

Position Summary:

The Innovation Design Lead in Well-B’s Innovation Center will conduct market, competitor, and consumer research; will conduct empathy interviews, develop personas, and create journey maps; will crowdsource, brainstorm, and define innovative ideas; will design and develop concepts; and will prototype, pilot, and test solutions. This position reports to the Innovation Director/Sr. Innovation Director. In collaboration with BCBSMA business leaders and industry stakeholders, in alignment with BCBSMA strategic priorities, this position will drive innovative initiatives from idea to market.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Engage with cross-functional BCBSMA stakeholders to actively collaborate on innovation initiatives.

  • Ensure appropriateness and alignment of business problems to innovation criteria, capabilities and process.

  • Determine market opportunity though market, competitor, vendor, and consumer research.

  • Gain understanding of problems through empathy interviews, observation, persona development, and journey mapping.

  • Generate innovative ideas through crowdsourcing, brainstorming sessions, and start-up/vendor research.

  • Define and shape innovative concepts in collaboration with the business and pitch/present for approval and funding.

  • Design, prototype and test concepts.

  • Pilot, track, and measure solutions in the market.

Key Qualifications

  • Undergraduate Degree required, Experience in Design, Innovation, and Healthcare preferred,

  • 5-7 years of work experience in any combination of healthcare, consulting, and consumer technologies

  • Strong preference for experience and knowledge of human centered design / design thinking

  • Strong preference for experience and knowledge of healthcare or health insurance

  • An understanding of Agile methodology

  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation communications skills
