HVAC Technician

Our client in Boston, MA is looking for hardworking, experienced HVAC Technician to join their team. This position would be great for an individual with a strong work ethic, enjoys working with great people, and experienced with servicing historical buildings!

What will you be doing?

  • Troubleshooting, performing preventative maintenance, and repairs on all HVAC systems including air handling units, stream absorption chiller, cooling towers, and all ancillary equipment such as pumps, valves, fans, ducting and variable air distribution units, motors/drives, compressors, thermostats, filters, and condensers; refrigeration equipment; and plumbing systems.

  • Advise on capital projects such as: installations, removals, overhaul, and modifications.

  • Arrange for testing and balancing of air systems; monitor the building management system.

  • Maintain fire sprinkler systems, fire alarms, smoke detection systems, and emergency generators to peak conditions.

  • Assign crew members on event logistics, room set-ups, receiving docks, office moves, security, emergency first responders, and special cleaning.

  • Special conditions: strenuous physical activity is required: able to climb ladders and scaffolds, crawl underneath objects, enter confined spaces, and roofs.

  • Work in all-weather conditions, lift to 50lbs., and operate a forklift.

What do you bring?

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; or advanced education: Vo-Tech Certification in HVAC and Refrigeration.

  • Journeyman level license in HVAC and Refrigeration.

  • 5 years minimum in maintaining HVAC, refrigeration, and plumbing systems in a large institution; Historic facility or public facility strongly PREFERRED.

  • Experience fabricating parts in a machine.

  • Intermediate level skills with electrical wiring, plumbing systems, and pipefitting.

  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Independent working; exercising judgement, and able to solicit contractor support.

  • Advanced blueprint interpretation; technical manuals, and specifications.

  • Strong computer skills related to MS Word, Spreadsheets, and internet access.

  • Physical abilities.
