Hologic Head of Corporate Communications in Boston, Massachusetts

Primary Function:

Builds and strengthens Hologic’s corporate reputation by developing and executing an external corporate communications strategy that drives global growth, while championing Hologic’s purpose, passion and promise.

Leads an integrated and outcomes-oriented thought leadership strategy for the company by creating strong messaging and external followership across lay, business and trade media, digital channels, community organizations, industry thought leaders, etc.

Through effective leadership and partnership, manages the external reputation of Hologic, in collaboration with Investor Relations, Divisional and Internal Communications, Marketing, Sales and other related functions.

Acts as a trusted adviser to corporate leaders to align strategic messaging externally and in concert with the groups above.

Drives a narrative that synthesizes Hologic’s purpose, passion and promise with dynamic trends in the industry and financial markets. Effectively positions the company through corporate messaging that clearly enhances Hologic’s global growth.

Creates platforms to champion Hologic’s mission and reputation, as well as further inspire employee engagement through knowledge and understanding of the company’s results.

Key Responsibilities:

Accountable to develop, implement and lead a high-impact external communication strategy that builds the corporate reputation, raises the visibility of the senior leadership team through various media, and leads to clear business outcomes, in support of the company’s growth and in alignment with its purpose, passion, and promise.

Creates a compelling and integrated communication plan for the corporation including a narrative that synthesizes dynamic trends in the industry, financial markets and Hologic’s response. Leverages Hologic’s unique culture to ensure the Company’s premier reputation in the market.

Develop and serve as “editor in chief” for a wide variety of communications content (press releases, social media posts, company statements and corporate presentations) for external communication channels to reach target audiences. In collaboration with the Investor Relations, Marketing, and Internal Communications teams, optimize message alignment to ensure that corporate communications activities accelerate growth and strengthen the company brand.

Lead the development of external strategies and materials for projects including the Hologic Global Women’s Health Index, corporate social responsibility, corporate media relations events and presentations, relevant business development activities, and other corporate initiatives as required.

Discover and optimize opportunities/campaigns/awards/sponsorships to position and strengthen the reputation of Hologic. Identify executive speaking/thought leadership opportunities for the CEO and other leaders. Prepare talking points, speeches, presentations, and other material as needed.

Develop proactive and reactive communications strategies to address issues that could impact the company’s reputation. Develop a readiness strategy for crisis, unexpected and time sensitive situations.

Partner proactively with the leadership team to anticipate and develop the best approach and positioning across the lay and trade media and key industry contacts.

Serve as communications coach and counsel to executives and others as needed to prepare them as spokespeople for delivering consistent messaging and themes aligned with company positioning and strategic goals.

In partnership with the VP, Investor Relations, contribute to the development of IR materials and positioning of the company story.

Supervise one manager of corporate communications. Manage/optimize value of external agency and relevant vendor relationships and associated budgets.


Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Business, Communications, Public Relations or related field required. Masters’ degree in Communications or MBA preferred. 15+ years of proven communications experience in corporate/executive communications. Demonstrated ability to deliver high impact strategic external communication plans and results. Strong media relations experience and relationships. Expert knowledge of multi-media communications platforms.

Excellent writer and detail-oriented editor with knowledge of journalistic style. Accomplished communicator and presenter with a track record of success and exceptional business partnering. Well versed in managing complex issues and multiple priorities with sound judgment and adaptability, working at all levels and across geographies.

Prior experience within a global and publicly traded company preferred. Medical device, life sciences or pharmaceutical industry experience beneficial.
