About the role:

Are you looking for a patient-focused, innovation-driven company that will inspire you and empower you to shine? Join us as the Head, E&C Policies and Governance USBU at the Director level in our Lexington, MA or Cambridge, MA office.

As the Head, E&C Policies and Governance USBU, reporting into the Head of Ethics and Compliance – USBU, you will be empowered to conduct US environmental scans and analyze external dynamics that can impact the USBU's business and objectives and build and maintain our policies and procedures

How you will contribute:

  • Ethics & Compliance (E&C) will respond rapidly to changing environment and business needs, it is close to the market, and encourages ethical behavior in line with Takeda's values. By working in an agile manner E&C ensures the balance between stable structures, governance, processes and systems, and dynamic approaches to delivering innovative solutions to appropriately manage our risks.

  • E&C commits to act as a role model for Takeda's values, ethics and values-based decision making, fostering this mindset in clients, partners and team

  • Enable the organization to take decisions which are ethical and in line with our priorities of Patient, Trust, Reputation, and Business

  • Collaborate across all E&C teams and partner with stakeholders in BU / BF to embed ethics and compliance as part of the way everyone works at Takeda

  • Identify policy gaps, maintain existing policies, update policies as needed, and facilitate the holistic policy lifecycle from development through implementation, including developing and implementing relevant supporting documents such as SOPs and tools for policy operationalization

  • Drive USBU implementation of global policy requirements

  • Internal advisory support on policy interpretation and SOP template implementation

  • Support continued maturity of the existing policy governance program, including framework for swift reaction to policy or guidance needs as identified via internal means or from external developments, and drive adoption across the organization.

  • Draft written narratives to communicate obligations, risk analyses, and recommendations to senior stakeholders

  • Support identified projects, provide policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, and project management expertise. Develop associated business cases for policy initiatives, execution plans, and evaluation metrics (qualitative or quantitative).

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree required, legal or other graduate degree preferred

  • 8+ years' experience in relevant compliance, legal or regulatory environment

  • 3+ years' experience in a compliance or comparable role in a US listed Pharma company or equivalent

  • Experience designing and managing company policy governance framework

  • Proven experience with US legal and regulatory governance, reporting and policy requirements

  • Strong program management and stakeholder management experience

  • Role model for Takeda's values, ethics and values-based decision making

  • High interpersonal and communication skills including ability to challenge and provide advice/ guidance to business as well as influence with and without authority

  • Demonstrates ability to deliver results in a global matrix organization

  • Can proactively identify process improvements

  • Effectively works in a cross-functional capacity and across numerous stakeholder groups to drive continuous improvement to the internal USBU E&C policy framework in line with business requirements

  • Shows high degree of curiosity and creativity in dealing with situations and topics

  • Partner efficiently with other areas of Ethics & Compliance and other support and control functions as required to deliver effective articulation of key risks to management and business leaders; this may include attending regular meetings with business management and involving other functions within E&C as necessary;

  • Quickly grasp key drivers of the business and industry and become immersed in the most important business issues facing the company.

  • Excellent analytical skills, with an inquisitive mind to explore data and identify critical issues and trends.

  • Strong interest in new technology, devices, apps, data science, and other uses of data

  • Self-starter with the ability to meet or exceed deadlines, prioritize, multi-task, and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced, changing environment

  • Demonstrate strategic, innovative, creative, and inquisitive frame of mind, with strong business acumen and judgment
