We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager of our Electrical Department in our Boston, MA office! The Boston Electrical Department is a large and growing group with many talented employees with diverse skill sets serving multiple project types and markets. We are looking for a motivated individual with leadership skills and a passion for getting things done who wants to be a part of setting the direction for this department as it continues to grow.
Responsibilities for this role will include:
Day to day management of a department of professional engineers and non-professional engineering support staff
Development and monitoring of project specific execution plans to reconcile Scope, Budget and Schedule constraints and ensure project success
Oversight of the activities of engineers, designers and drafters engaged in the design of facility Electrical and Communication systems, to ensure the designs conform to recognized codes and standards and with customer requirements for a variety of government, commercial and industrial facility types.
Oversight of the technical production standards for contract documents, drawings and specifications within their discipline.
Ensure adherence to Quality Control processes, ultimately resulting in the highest quality deliverables to our clients.
Monitor project assignments to normalize workload across the staff
Attract and retain premiere talent through recruiting, mentoring, training and other employee development activities
Work with Operations and Project Management to ensure that the staff is the appropriate size and has the proper experience, training and qualifications to effectively produce the design for current and upcoming projects.
Responsible for coordination with other discipline directors in the organization to provide consistent direction to the staff and to instill a spirit of collaboration throughout the operation.
Develop fee proposals for new work and track progress of teams on projects.
Leadership in developing advanced concepts, techniques, standards and setting the technical direction for the department’s design processes and procedures.
Providing positive leadership and teambuilding which will encourage employee engagement and maintain a high morale.
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is required
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering is a plus
Professional Engineer license is required
Minimum 15 years of electrical (power) design experience is required
Experience in management of large scope projects or the management of an MEP engineering design group is required
Design experience needs to include Mechanical and/or Electrical/Communication design for commercial, transportation, healthcare, institutional, and Federal and Municipal facility projects
