Alexion AstraZeneca’s Rare Disease GVAP team is seeking a qualified Director to be part of a dynamic and growing team with responsibility for programs within the META plus franchise, specifically, NF1 PN.

As a Leader within the GVAP Team you will lead the development and execution of value, access, and price strategies for launch assets to support patient access to our medicines.

This is a strategic role leveraging your understanding and application of global/health care/HTA system knowledge, competitive insights, and clinical understanding, to shape market access, pricing, and reimbursement success for two critical product launches and indications.

The ideal candidate for this role has a deep understanding and application of global payer / HTA / health care systems for market access, pricing and reimbursement success within the biopharma industry including launches.

You will be responsible for:


  • Develop Global market access and pricing strategies and market access roadmaps in close partnership with global value, launch, and program teams

  • Conduct payer and value assessments to identify key market specific P&R drivers and barriers to develop differentiated value propositions, inform evidence generation plans, regulatory strategy, and development decisions

  • Create and roll out of strategic value, access and pricing communication tools and materials to support local P&R submissions and negotiations

  • Represent GVAP perspective and strategy across various cross-functional teams (including Global Program Teams, Global Launch Teams)

  • Keep up to date with scientific developments, bringing the latest techniques and analyses to build the strongest possible value proposition.

  • Partner with HEOR and development teams to execute a plan to address identified data gaps through HEOR studies, publications, and messaging

  • Understand the patient perspective of the disease and recommend strategies that can support the patient voice in key payer negotiations.

  • Demonstrate ability to take initiative and consistently deliver high-quality work products.

  • Communicate frequently and effectively with Alexion leadership and other identified stakeholders.

    You will need to have:

  • Relevant Graduate degree e.g. PharmD, biomedical science, business, or economics.

  • Prior rare disease therapy area expertise.

  • Relevant drug development and/or commercialization experience within the pharmaceutical/medical industry.

  • Knowledge of the needs and expectations of national and regional payers, insurers, and commercial customers in our strategic markets.

  • Several years of previous project leadership experience in the generation of payer evidence or development/execution of payer commercial strategies (e.g. Health Economics, Market Access, Pricing).

  • The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment. As is typical of an office-based role, employees must be able, with or without an accommodation to: use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; engage in problem solving and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours.

    We would prefer for you to have:

  • 5-10 years of experience in a commercial or payer strategy function, e.g. managed markets brand director, business development director, head of pricing/access.

  • Experience working with clinicians, pharmacists, and payers on evidence-based customer solutions, e.g. through working with local payers in EU or commercial customers in the US.

  • Experience constructing payer value stories and incorporating these into TPPs

  • Experience in country or regional pharmaceutical role

  • Experience of oncology launch

  • Ability to take people with you and bring the best out of others

  • Excellence and precision in communication: credible and persuasive
