AmexGBT is seeking a Global Event Manager as a 6-month contractor. We are looking for an experienced event strategist who takes their work seriously but not themselves. As part of the global communications and public affairs team, this individual would play a key role in developing and telling our story through external events and activations. This person must be a detail oriented, creative thinker with a passion for executing exceptional in person experiences.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Collaborate with the global experiential events team to strategically plan, execute and manage trade shows and events in support of business goals and objectives.

  • Maintain oversight of execution and event budget.

  • Work in partnership with the regional communications lead and appropriate stakeholders to ensure content deliverables are incorporated in the overall event presence. Content includes but is not limited to keynote presentations, panels, breakout sessions and client speaking opportunities.

  • Develop and manage project timelines in collaboration with cross-functional departments to meet event deadlines and objectives.

  • Source venues, vendors for catering, décor, technology for registration and/or virtual platforms, audio-visual elements, transportation and entertainment in support of meetings and activations.

  • Co-manage the global activation calendar on behalf of the event experience program.

  • Work collaboratively to manage a core partner team of meeting planners to ensure events are efficiently activated.

  • Own event communications and updates to executive stakeholders.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Strong practical and technical knowledge of large-scale, multifaceted event management.

  • An ability to engage with internal and external executive stakeholders.

  • Experience managing vendor relationships and negotiations.

  • A successful track record of executing large scale events, tradeshows and external engagements in support of global business priorities and messaging.

  • Proven success in dynamic project management, including project planning and execution.

  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines in an environment of competing priorities.

  • A desire to be part of a small, high-performing global team.

  • Time zone agnostic. Experienced in and understands the complexities of engaging with colleagues in a global, matrixed organization.

  • A resilient self-starter who thrives in an environment of ambiguity and flexibility.

  • Develop and maintain knowledge of technology and/or software solutions.
