The Genomic Initiative Coordinator has the unique opportunity to work in an essential role with research groups from a variety of disciplines in order to assist in the not only the day-to-day functions of the Children’s Rare Disease Cohorts (https://www.childrenshospital.org/centers-and-services/programs/o-_-z/precision-medicine-service/rare-disease-cohorts) , but also participate in the analysis and interpretation of the genetic data for enrolled patients. The Genomic Initiative Coordinator will work one-on-one with research groups to resolve issues and engage in creative problem solving.
This position requires an individual to possess project/operations management skills in order to coordinate several projects at once and regularly triage priorities and triage questions and requests. Knowledge of laboratory processes including but not limited to mechanisms of testing and sample requirements is recommended. Excellent communication skills are necessary in order to keep research groups informed of updates and deadlines, creating and maintaining SOPs, running weekly meetings, and communicating with lab directors. Data analysis skills are required in order to perform audits of where a patient is in the workflow in addition to tracking progress of each cohort and pulling reports on various metrics. Prior experience with various LIMS (laboratory information systems) and/or EMR, experience working with IT Development, clinical experience, variant analysis, and experience with managing invoices are all beneficial to this position.
The Genomic Initiative Coordinator will:
Coordinate an effort between dozens of research labs that participate in the study to ensure that enrollment, sample collection, shipping, and data return are performed in a timely and accurate manner.
Provide oversight to general data management and coordinate processes to ensure that data is properly migrated and integrated in a compliant and timely fashion
Provide project outreach to inform various stakeholders about the progress of the initiative
Connect with external vendors and internal technical teams to ensure that the initiative has the proper support and that technical issues are resolved
Review genomic data
Requirements and Competencies:
STEM field Bachelor’s degree, with 1-3 years of experience in human genomics. Graduate degree, particularly in Genetic Counseling preferred.
Prior operational or project management experience and knowledge of the clinical research environment
Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
