Validity FP&A Analyst in Boston, Massachusetts

About the Role

The FP&A Analyst  will join the Finance team in a highly visible role reporting directly to the Director of FP&A. The Analyst will interact with colleagues at all levels of the company to understand corporate objectives, aid in the development of financial plans, and communicate performance to internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, the FP&A Analyst will use analytical and interpersonal skills to provide business insights throughout the organization and contribute to strategic decision-making within a growing technology business. 

Team Dynamic

Validity is a sophisticated, private equity-backed SaaS organization with thousands of customers across multiple regions and product lines. The FP&A team is responsible for collaborating with the business to organize and track corporate goals, develop forecasts, and drive performance. We are looking for a driven candidate who is independently motivated and can advance the team’s ability to provide value through comprehensive financial analysis, modeling, and reporting.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

  • Consolidate financial results and core SaaS metrics; contribute to the creation of monthly management reporting package that highlights performance for the CEO, CFO, and Board of Directors

  • Participate in the monthly forecasting and annual budgeting process, and contribute to the company’s long-term financial model

  • Maintain and augment customer retention reporting and analysis; provide deep insights into changes in our customer base

  • Act as a trusted business advisor to the functional leaders by presenting results and providing commentary on variances

  • Generate ad-hoc analyses as required; use strong understanding of the underlying business requirement to distill robust data analysis into clear, effective output

  • Enhance Validity’s insight into business performance by advancing its ability to measure industry-standard KPIs and identify trends

  • Improve processes and deploy automation where possible

  • Provide support and ad hoc analyses for cross-functional initiatives

  • Ability to work in Validity's Boston (Financial District) office 3 days per week

    Required Experience, Skills, and Education

  • 2-5 years of experience in finance, corporate accounting, or business analysis

  • Understanding of the core financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)

  • Advanced Excel skills (financial modeling, lookup & reference formulas, data summarization, etc.)

  • Familiarity with data analysis tools such as SQL, Alteryx, Tableau, or similar

  • A desire to learn and immerse yourself in the role to better understand the business and the drivers of its KPIs

  • Motivated to grow and progress your career in the FP&A organization

  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

  • Proven ability to operate independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Effective written and verbal communicator, comfortable interacting with a variety of audiences within the organization, and a strong team contributor

    Preferred Experience, Skills, and Education

  • BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or a Quantitative field

  • Technology (SaaS) industry experience

  • Experience with ERP (Netsuite), CRM (Salesforce), and Planning software (Adaptive Insights) preferred
