About The Role:

As a CBRE Facilities Manager, you will manage a team responsible for providing supervising building operations and maintenance for a facility, campus, or portfolio of small to medium sized buildings.

This job is a part of the Facilities Management functional area which focuses on all aspects of the operations of a set of assets, providing support to the Property Managers regarding all repairs and investment plans.

This Facility Manager position is part of a large team which includes the Boston Children's Museum leadership. Reporting into this role is the CBRE Engineering Team, the Securitas Team and the ACP Cleaning Team. The Facility Manager is responsible for managing these relationships and working with the Museum to ensure that any opportunities and/or problems regarding staffing are addressed. While directly reporting to the Museum’s Managing Director, the Facility Manager reports into the Museum’s office of the CFAO (Chief Finance and Administrative Officer).

As a non-profit corporation, the Museum is always seeking to use its financial resources to the maximum extent practicable. To that end, the Facilities Manager will often be expected to seek multiple bids for goods and services and to make sure that contractors and vendors provide safe, fair and timely work when in the building.

Finally, the Building and Museum operations are inextricably tied, and the Facilities Manager is an important, highly visible and trusted role. Given this reality and the fact that the Museum is a place for children and families, the Facility Manager is expected to hold the highest standards for conduct and leadership.

What You'll Do:

Provide formal supervision to employees. Monitor the training and development of staff. Conduct performance evaluations and coaching. Supervise the recruiting and hiring of new employees.

Schedule and manage the team's daily activities. Establish work schedules, assign tasks, and cross-train staff. Set and track staff and department timelines. Mentor and coach as needed.

Coordinate and manage facility repairs and maintenance with the help of the Lead Engineer by working with technicians, vendors, and contractors.

Maintain positive client relationships and conduct meetings on unresolved facility issues.

Prepare and manage capital projects, operating budgets, and variance reports.

Perform facility inspections quality assurance following local, state, and federal laws. Suggest operational efficiencies, repairs, and upgrade opportunities.

Manage environmental health and safety procedures for facilities.

Oversee vendor relationships and invoicing procedures. Review price quotes for the procurement of parts, services, and labor for projects.

Conduct process and procedure training on maintenance, repairs, and safety standard processes.

Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values. Influence parties of shared interests to reach an agreement.

Apply knowledge of own subject area and how own field integrates with others to achieve team and departmental objectives.

Identify, fix, and resolve day-to-day and moderately complex issues which may or may not be evident in existing systems and processes.

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with 3-5 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered. Valid driver's license required. Facility Management certification preferred.

  • Experience in the areas of staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising, and rewarding performance and retention preferred.

  • Ability to guide the exchange of sensitive, complicated, and difficult information, convey performance expectations and handle problems.

  • Leadership skills to motivate team impact on quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the job team and department.

  • Extensive organizational skills with a strong inquisitive mentality.

  • Advanced math skills. Ability to calculate difficult figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations.

Equal Pay Disclaimer

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for theFacilities Manageris $90,000 annually and the maximum salary for theFacilities Manageris $120,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
