VMware Engineering Manager, Sales Commissions - Opportunity for Working Remotely in Boston, Massachusetts

Our team manages multiple packaged (ERP) and custom applications in order to support R&D business units and internal business operations team. CFE team is responsible for predominantly following Portfolios for SaaS & On-Prem.

  • Product & Pricing

  • Order Management & Fulfillment

  • Billing, Invoicing & Payment

  • Custom Applications (Home-Grown)

  • Sales Compensation

What is primary need, technical challenge, and/or problem you will be responsible for?

You will be responsible for team delivery of net new work as well as support existing applications & services that are running On-Prem/ SaaS with high quality code and 99.99% availability. You will ensure that your team effectively works together with other teams in our organization.

  • Work with multiple teams (IT engineering, R&D business units, Business operations) to solve business challenges and system enhancements/maintenance.

Success in the Role: What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

Goals you would be expected to complete for you to consider me successful in this role:

The first 6-8 weeks:

  • Develop a good understanding of your team. Their strengths, weaknesses, and development goals

  • Understand your team’s challenges

  • Get a good understanding of applications, system and services tech stack, and AS-IS process

  • Understand our organization’s processes that span teams

8-12 weeks onward:

  • Align team and individual goals to the goals of our larger organization

  • Work with your team and the Lead & Architects on developing a technical roadmap

  • You can communicate and collaborate with product and design in your development, and you are constructive in sharing your opinions

  • You track and oversee the architecture and quality of deliverables for your program

  • You ensure that customer issues get addressed reliably and timely even when they cross team-boundaries

  • Your program is healthy as determined by key metrics of engagement, retention, work/life balance, delivery that you helped put in place

  • There is a shared context on the program and the architecture of the roadmap 3 and 6 months out

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

As a leader in Engineering :

  • You bring expert level skills and experience with SAP Callidus Commissions and/or other sales commission systems

  • You know ERPs (Oracle & SAP) and have knowledge of Order Management and Invoice to Cash areas

  • You have working knowledge of software engineering principles, design patterns, and R&D Engineering practices as well as good exposure to DevOps

  • You can integrate portal applications with ERPs including Oracle and/or SAP

  • While ensuring adherence to coding standards, unit testing, sonar quality gate coverage you know how to work closely with Product Manager and Biz Ops, Tech Leads, and other teams to plan upcoming work and formalize proposals

  • You can effectively lead a team of engineers towards delivering against program objectives while managing hiring.

You will be reporting to the Senior Manager - Commerce Finance Engineering ( CFE ). You will work closely with your Engineers, Product Owners, Leads, and Architects.
