Thermo Fisher Scientific Director, Strategic Growth and Integration in Boston, Massachusetts
Director, Strategic Growth and Integration is responsible for maximizing long-term strategic growth for Pharma Services Group (PSG) through the execution of growth initiatives and integration excellence. The Director, Strategic Growth and Integration will work collaboratively with Strategy, Corporate Development and Senior Leadership to identify and action on key growth strategies with particular focus on growth through external partnerships and M&A. This role will support partner identification, assessment and will lead integration management.
Provide outside-in thought leadership on the future state of the industry and potential impact to overall strategy and businesses
Define strategic context across portfolio of businesses: growth drivers, macro trends, customer dynamics, competitive environment, technology trends, etc. On an ongoing basis monitor, track, interpret, and share industry, competitive and innovation trends.
Participate in formulation of business strategy, including commercial strategy, product/service strategy, technology strategy, and competitive strategy analysis
Identify levers to accelerate growth and expand capabilities to create a differentiated competitive advantage; support the make vs. buy assessment.
Work collaboratively with leadership from divisions and functions to identify underlying challenges, dynamics, and opportunities to deliver growth and profitability
Develop new business models, identifying new areas along the value chain wherein Pharma Services can bring value
Proactively identify and profile potential partnerships and acquisition targets aligned to strategic priorities
Partner with Corporate Development to evaluate and advance inorganic growth opportunities. This entails input and support across all stages of deal flow, including screening, strategic rationale, valuation, diligence, and integration planning.
Build, deploy and oversee an Integration Management Office (IMO) capability for PSG; lead select integrations.
Responsible for the creation and delivery of a disciplined integration strategy, process, and execution.
Requirements and Qualifications:
BS in technical discipline (Science, Engineering, Finance); MBA strongly preferred
10+ years of relevant professional experience, including broad-based experience in strategy and market/financial analysis within a corporate or consulting setting; experience with corporate development strongly preferred
Proven track record of effectively leading highly complex strategic initiatives, direct integration experience required
Experience developing and implementing governance structures along with supporting process and tools
Executive presence: Ability to engage, influence and inspire at all levels
Ability to collaborate and work across a heavily matrixed environment with strong influence and negotiation skills
Highly self-motivated with ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously
Comfortable working in ambiguity with attention to detail
