Position summary

Nucleic Acid Therapeutics (NATx) is one of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s fastest growing businesses with a significant focus on enabling mRNA-based therapies. To support this growth, we are looking for a passionate, curious and strategic Director, Market Development who will lead our expanding Market Development team. Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Marketing and Strategy, this leader will build and implement strategic marketing initiatives that drive commercial success across the Nucleic Acid Therapeutics (NATx) business unit.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and drive clear short-term and long-term marketing strategies across all NATx BU product lines and ensure connectivity with NATx business goals.

• Drive development and execution of the global marketing plan including value proposition, segmentation, sales enablement, and marketing mix across all geographies and market segments.

• Through collaboration with commercial, product management, and R&D leaders and market trend analysis, build marketing programs and related business cases to supports business growth and drive sustainable competitive advantage.

• Enable sales with robust lead generation funnel, sales tools and training, while partnering closely with Sales leadership to ensure alignment on go-to-market initiatives.

• Lead the team with a customer-centric attitude, applying pertinent critical metrics to measure business performance and effectiveness of marketing programs.

• Create and facilitate internal communication to align all functions on NATx marketing strategies and key initiatives for growth, such as building out the business’s digital presence.

• Contribute to Corporate and other external communications initiatives for the business.

• Directly lead a team of marketing professionals, coordinating both direct and indirect resources, to drive business performance. Remove barriers to execution and build an environment where colleagues are motivated to excel.

• Build a successful team by hiring, developing and engaging passionate and motivated employees.

• Demonstrate and champion core authentic leadership behaviors. Promote diversity, including with respect to experience and thought leadership.

• Use the PPI systems and business processes to continually optimize processes and drive alignment across functions and teams in support of the customer.

Required Education/Experience:

• Extensive Market Development experience with strong understanding of life sciences market and ideally Nucleic Acid Therapeutic market segment

• Strong track record of getting results

• Demonstrated ability to define a market strategy. Able to implement a robust growth strategy, considering various metrics and data inputs.

• Strong talent management and people development skills.

• Minimum of 8 years relevant marketing/sales experience, preferably with management experience

• Strong track record of driving operational excellence and continuous improvement

• Collaborative. Ability to work across a heavily matrixed environment.

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant course of study. MBA and/or additional advanced degree is strongly preferred, but not required

• The candidate will be self-motivated and a driving force in their current or past organizations.

• Strong project management skills with ability to manage short term deliverables concurrent with longer-term strategic achievements

• Ability to influence across the organization at all levels, including previous experience in a highly matrixed, global organization would be preferred

• Executive presence; Strong presentation skills

• Travel: 25+% (primarily domestic/US travel).
