Thermo Fisher Scientific Director, Global Payroll Compliance & Transformation in Boston, Massachusetts

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director, Global Compliance & Transformation will have a minimum of 10 years progressive payroll experience operating within a large, global organization. The Director will possess strong leadership and change management skills as we are in the midst of significant growth and transformation. This highly visible role will lead functional areas including payroll project management, mergers & acquisitions, reporting & analytics, communications and global compliance, audit & controls. Enabling a multi-faceted roadmap while exceeding expectations is a critical attribute to the success of this role. Working closely with the payroll senior leader, payroll regional leads, country managers/SMEs and key internal partners will require strong relationship building skills. Flexibility in the scheduling of the workday is necessary as we operate in every time zone. Evidence of tangible, measured results will be required of candidates during the interview process.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage a diverse, global team of talent among multiple, discrete work streams including project management, mergers & acquisitions, reporting & analytics, communications and global audit & controls

  • Develop, implement and oversee a work intake process, assessment protocol and prioritization schematic

  • Ensure timely delivery of projects including meeting milestones and accurate delivery of ROI

  • Accountable for executing global controls framework and compliance protocol

  • Lead deployment of new tools, systems, processes to aid in the quality, efficiency and delivery of payroll processes

  • Global Payroll Reporting and Analytics including metrics package development and delivery

  • Project manage systems upgrades and enhancements as needed

  • Coach, mentor and provide leadership development to team members on a regular basis

  • Project manage acquisitions, mergers and divestitures as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and work-related experience

  • 10+ years of experience working in a progressive payroll position within a global delivery environment

  • Solid knowledge of core, end to end payroll processes and procedures including controls

  • Advanced project management skills

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Must perform well in high-energy, dynamic and team-oriented environments

  • Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish working relationships with individuals at varying levels within the organization

  • Willingness to provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group

  • Demonstrated integrity within a professional environment

  • High degree of initiative, mature judgment and discretion

  • Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
