Job Overview

The Sr. Design Engineer will join Keurig Green Mountain’s Technology organization. The Sr. Design Engineer will work on cross-functional teams, developing next generation technology for Keurig brewers.

The Sr. Design Engineer will lead the development of technologies critical to beverage creation, sustain existing technologies, and challenge past decisions in support of new product development. This position will have significant impact and leverage on current and future products, and will be in an excellent position for visibility and growth within the Keurig Green Mountain technology organization.

The Sr. Design Engineer will be the subject matter expert for critical elements of the Keurig appliance portfolio. While this position does not have direct reports, the Design Engineer will have a responsibility for instructing, directing and checking the work of other design engineers.

What you will do:

  • Quickly get up to speed with new technologies and products.

  • Set near and long term technology goals for our products.

  • Provide direction and mentorship for peers and colleagues.

  • Partner with a cross-functional team.

  • Develop strategy and create focus for a specific technology area.

  • Leverage a broad technical expertise.

  • Proactively identify and close knowledge gaps within the Hot Brewer technology area.

  • Represent on a cross-functional team developing the next generation of Keurig appliances.

  • Serve as a primary technical interface with suppliers and partners to manage product sustainment related to the thermal or fluid mechanics subsystems.

  • Support and/or drive continuous improvement.

  • Follow all Keurig Green Mountain policies and procedures.


  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Master’s preferred.

  • 8+ years of professional experience in a relevant industry.

  • Theories of heat transfer and practical application (heaters and heating elements, thermal interfaces, etc.).

  • Theories of fluid mechanics and practical application (pumps, valves, etc.).

  • 3D design/modeling (SolidWorks).

  • Component/Assembly design analysis.

  • System or subsystem modeling and simulation.

  • High volume consumer product design.

  • Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly principles and best practices.

  • Detailed component specification.

  • Advanced 3D Modeling and Drafting using SolidWorks & PDM.

  • Design for Six Sigma practices including Root Cause Analysis, 8D, A3, Design of Experiments, etc.

  • Statistics as applicable to high volume product design and manufacture.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • An aptitude for creating and presenting data-based trade-off studies as input to decision making.

  • Ability to present technologies and status of development projects to management and stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated record of making critical decisions that positively impact the course of the organization.

  • Effective at mentoring junior staff members.
