Wellington Derivatives Operations Analyst in Boston, Massachusetts

About the Role

The Derivatives Operations Analyst (Analyst) will be responsible for supporting the collateral and margin processes for Futures, Listed Options, Cleared OTC, MSFTA, and Bilateral products across the post-execution lifecycle. This will include the reconciliation and instruction of daily margin requirements, processing of accounting postings, and post-value control reconciliations. The Analyst will work closely with our brokers, vendors, service providers, client relationship teams, trading, and technology to ensure timely trade capture in multiple internal systems, processing of lifecycle events, responding to client inquiries, and troubleshooting critical issues. Due to the complexity and manual nature of some functions, the Analyst will continually look for opportunities to create efficiencies through workflow enhancements and technology for the processing, reporting and reconciliation of derivatives. They will be involved in various projects by performing user acceptance testing and assisting with other implementation tasks. While the Analyst will work in a team-oriented environment, many projects will be self-directed, often under intense deadline pressures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Daily review of margin calls from brokers and investigation of discrepancies

  • Daily post-value cash reconciliations of collateral and margin movements

  • Daily control reconciliations including holdings, collateral, and currency balances between our internal accounting, clearing brokers, custodians, and clearing houses

  • Effectively participate in the management of our broker relationships

  • Serve as an escalation point for incoming queries and issues raised by clients, custodians, accounting agents, brokers, portfolio managers, trading, and other internal stakeholders

  • Serve as a resource for internal teams handling derivative-related queries and audit requests from clients and their agents

  • Continuously identify opportunities for front-to-back efficiency and control process improvements and assist in implementing necessary changes

  • Participate in industry working groups to identify new clearing opportunities and potential challenges of regulatory changes

  • Be a steward of risk and control frameworks, always keeping work quality and accuracy in mind

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with back and/or middle office operations with exposure to both Cleared and Bilateral Derivatives

  • Direct margin and collateral management experience a plus

  • Highly motivated with strong communications skills, high attention to detail, and a problem-solving/analytical mindset

  • Track record of driving process improvements

  • Must be both team-oriented and a strong independent contributor

  • Experience working in a global team setting a plus

  • Have an undergraduate degree and strong academic record

  • 2-4 years of relevant industry experience is preferred

  • Technical proficiency, such as Excel (macros, etc.) Python, and SQL preferred

Our approach to compensation considers all aspects of total compensation; all employees are eligible to receive salary, variable compensation, and benefits. The base salary range for this position is:

USD 65,000 - 150,000

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; role; skills and experience; certifications; and education. This range is an estimate, and further details on salary and total compensation aspects will be shared with candidates during the recruitment process.

Base salary is only one component of Wellington’s total compensation approach. Other rewards may include a discretionary Corporate Bonus and/ or Incentives, if eligible.
