Facebook is seeking a Lead Controls Engineer to join the Data Center Controls & Monitoring team. Our data centers serve as the foundation upon which our software operates to meet the demands of our customers, with the Facility Operations team supporting multiple data centers on one site. The Lead Controls Engineer will lead a team of Controls Engineers that provide site support for building retrofits, optimization efforts, escalated technical issues, and new construction ‘ready for operations’ activities. Additionally, the Lead Controls Engineer will have responsibility for a given site. The ideal candidate will be a technical expert in the controls industry, with the ability to provide technical solutions and guidance, and drive global standardization initiatives, in a highly collaborative environment. This candidate will also need exceptional leadership and management skills that will be essential for team alignment to global strategies.

Required Skills:

  1. Develop, mentor, and manage a team of 3 to 4 controls engineers.

  2. Definition and rollout of new engineering standards/best practices.

  3. Develop and generate specifications, RFPs, ROMs and SOWs for projects.

  4. Point of escalation for complex system malfunctions.

  5. Facilitate and decision change control reviews.

  6. Perform readiness review of new build projects to inform overall building acceptance.

  7. Travel to data center site in support of pre-engineering, implementation, startup testing, and commissioning of projects at the assigned site.

  8. 30% domestic and international travel.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 10+ years controls experience in programming development, start up, and commissioning of electrical monitoring systems, central plants, air handling units, and evaporative cooling/humidification systems.

  2. Associates in Engineering/Technical studies or Technical School.

  3. Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and life safety systems associated with critical environments.

  4. Experience understanding and auditing blueprints/CAD drawings and controls diagrams.

  5. Experience beyond field technician level such as project management, project engineering, or operations management.

  6. Experience in communicating and organizing effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline

  2. Experience with software programming languages such as Python, PHP, SQL

  3. IT/Networking Certification
