Job Summary

The role of the Global Pursuits Group (GPG) Creative Design Manager (CDM)/Assistant Director is best defined as a creative production manager, pitching initial concepts and leading the creation of a campaign’s visual brand design and layout to completion of all final deliverables. The assigned CDM works alongside the Pursuit Strategist (“PS”), as well as the GPG Business Development/Pursuit Leader (BD/PL) and the Client Service Pursuit Leader, to prepare creative design approach and strategy for the client serving team that strengthens the EY brand and simultaneously illustrates a unique understanding of the potential client/current client’s needs. The CDM is one of the last to touch the proposal before completion and is responsible for delivery to internal/external team(s).

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to overall strategy development by devising innovative visuals, charts, graphs, and packaging methods, which relate to the potential client’s business issues, culture, industry and market position

  • Responsible for the visual design theme and deliverables platform that support our pursuit strategy and client/potential client’s requirements. (typically established in the RFP)

  • Attend and actively contribute to appropriate kick-off strategy, status, follow-up/debrief, and oral/site visit preparation meetings concerning the pursuit

  • Offer conceptual design and production solutions during the full cycle of the pursuit to support the communication strategies developed by PS and the Business Development/Pursuit Leader

  • Establish production process, timelines and procedures with approved vendor resources (or in-house services) to meet project requirements and adherence to quality checks, proofing, and delivery deadlines

  • Create layouts within the EY Visual Identity to establishing strong typography and appropriate use of color, images and fonts, allowing for readability of type and logic of graphic illustrations

  • Create interactive presentations when appropriate using a variety of software tools

  • Develop complex concepts for packaging design

  • Strategically relate design work to support the value proposition for our client/potential client’s business needs

  • Pitch and Influence the pursuit team and stakeholders offering effective visual design, which meets deadline and budget considerations

  • Coordinate activities of external vendors regarding the development of external products such as containers, posters, or multimedia presentations

  • Understand and strictly adhere to the quality standards of the firm’s visual identity supporting Vision2020 in becoming the strongest brand in the market

Interaction with PS and Sales Lead: (staying Connected, Responsive and Insightful)

  • Anticipate design and production needs and inform PS and Business Development/Pursuit Leader of timelines, expectations, and challenges on an on-going basis

  • Assist in developing and executing winning pursuit strategies to increase potential revenue growth

  • This position reports to the Director of Global Pursuits/or the Creative Design Lead and operates with considerable autonomy)

  • The Creative Design Manager has shared accountability (along with the BD/PL and PS) for the performance of the GPG team on individual pursuits and for the success or failure of the engagement pursuit(s) effort

  • After each pursuit, the CDM participates in a post-pursuit 360 degree (i.e. written and/or verbal) performance review with pursuit-specific GPG engagement team members and the Director of Global Pursuits. The information generated from these reviews contributes to the CDM's mid-year and annual performance review process conducted with the Director of Global Pursuits/or the Creative Design Lead

  • The annual performance of the CDM is measured against the supplied goals and objective recommendations of the business unit as well as personal goal/objective contributions by the CDM. Serve as a mentor to any junior design colleagues. This will demonstrate an investment in cultivating other’s professional development and show the ability/willingness to lead and manage others

  • Define standards and best practices and share leading practices within the GPG and across the firm in relation to best-in-class techniques, practices and innovation within the EY design community

To qualify, candidates must have

  • Knowledge of EY’s products and services is helpful and will be essential upon assumption of the role

  • Solid experience in graphic design with exposure to brand marketing

  • Must be agile in a high-paced environment and produce quality work in high-pressure situations

  • Solid experience in graphic design with exposure to brand marketing

  • Superior knowledge with graphics software tools, proficiency in firm’s standard operating software (MS Office: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Excel) and design software such as: Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Flash, After Effects, Acrobat Pro and Fireworks

  • Maintain capabilities for troubleshooting technical issues in graphic files for pre-press and printing—linking graphics, including fonts and creating color separations

  • Facilitate knowledge transfer to other team members as needed in pursuit cross-over or serving as backup for another designer

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

  • Master’s degree welcome but not required

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience – Mac OSX and Windows Experienced

  • Design related accreditations are welcome such as Adobe Certified, etc
