What you'll do:

We're seeking an intern to join the Corporate Strategy team. The Corporate Strategy team supports the Executive Team to set the vision and direction of Cengage, and works with the portfolio businesses to deliver that ambition. The team also takes on critical pan-Cengage projects that will have a big impact on our trajectory as a company.

As an intern within Corporate Strategy, you should expect to gain exposure to all aspects of strategy work at Cengage including support for strategy dialogue at the top of the company and working embedded within businesses to solve frontline problems. Through mentorship from senior members of the Corporate Strategy team, you will help to conduct analysis for Cengage’s key strategic initiatives. In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to network with and learn from leaders across the Cengage strategy community, most of whom have experience working at top consulting firms. This internship would suit candidates with an interest in business strategy & operations and seeking to build skills like problem solving, managing trade-offs, and articulating complex ideas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner on providing support analysis in key strategic and operational topics (examples of work: customer and internal interviews, data analysis, workflow development, meeting facilitation, recommendations to senior leaders)

  • Learn how to approach and run large-scale, needle-moving technology and operations initiatives

  • Support the financial, strategic, and operational evaluation of how we work and how that translates to savings for students around the world

  • Attend numerous training and networking events to learn fundamental presentation and analysis skills, in addition to meeting professionals with varied backgrounds in consulting, investment banking, and education

Skills you will need:

  • Strong knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to produce clear reports and presentations

  • Experience with SQL, Access, and/or other databases a plus

What to expect:

  • 37.5 hour work week, Monday to Friday, June through August. This role will be based out of our Boston office and will collaborate virtually with teams across locations
