Component Engineering Intern/Co-op - Fourth Year
As a Component Engineering
Intern, you will be a part of a fast-pace, multi-disciplinary, and creative
team that drives new product development and implements continuous improvements
to new and existing processes. Component Engineering works closely with design engineering/product teams, Oracle
Cloud (OCI), operations engineering, supply management, component suppliers and
External Manufacturers (EMs) to provide technical
leadership and support to ensure manufacturability of design specifications and
to validate the selection and use of components to ensure the specifications are properly met at EMs.
Intern, you will work closely with each of the component engineers in the team
and learn more about commodities such as ICs, FPGAs, Cables, Connectors, etc. Participate
in design and DF
- (Design for X) reviews to learn the complete system
architecture. Involved in lab testing and reviewing of new components and
sub-assemblies that will be used in new products. Learn more supply chain
impacts of component selection such as cost, quality, multi-sourcing, and other
What will I do?
Influenceand guide engineering teams in early phases of product development to alignwith business requirements and commodity technology strategies and roadmaps.
SupportingOCI, troubleshoot interconnect issues and work with interconnect suppliers andEMs to identify root cause and corrective actions. Review, interpret andcommunicate supplier data.
Identifyalternate component sources for risk mitigation, reduced cost and/or improved quality/reliabilityand implement changes when appropriate.
Workwith Team Members to drive suppliers to better products in terms of cost,quality, and availability.
Labtesting work as required.
What are you looking for in acandidate?
BS in Electrical Engineering or ComputerEngineering or related field of study
GPA – 3.2 or higher
Innovative problem-solving skills with policiesand procedure implementation capabilities.
Leadership skills within and outside the group,with the ability to influence decision-making.
Proficient spreadsheet skills and strongattention to detail.
Strong written, verbal and presentationcommunication skills.
Successful candidates will be a self-starter,able to thrive in a fast paced and demanding work environment. The rightcandidate will be able to deliver quality work, on time, while working withpersonnel at all levels of the organization.
Hard working, self-motivated, disciplined,detailed and results-oriented.
