Job Description TheMassachusetts Department ofEnergyResources is seekingan intern tosupport bothExternalAffairsandtheGreenCommunitiesDivision.External AffairsleadsDOER’s communications efforts, including media relations, public events,web contentandsocial media. TheGreen Communities Division serves all 351 Massachusetts cities and townsandprovides grants, technicalassistance, and local support to help municipalities reduce energy use and costs by implementing clean energy projects in municipal buildings, facilities, and schools. The intern willwork on a variety of initiatives including communications-related projects andactivities,andadata-driven storytellingproject andupcomingeventfor theGreen Communities Division.The intern will interact withvarious DOERstaff to gatherinformationconcerning projects and activitiesandcoordinate efforts. A strong candidate will havesolidwritten and verbalcommunication and interpersonal skills,demonstratedexperience usinga graphic design platformor software, and goodorganizationalskills. The internwill needtomanage multiple projects with concurrent timelines andwill need to beproactive,detail oriented,and able to workindependently.Knowledge of or adesire to learn aboutMassachusetts’ energy prioritiesand initiatives is a plus. Primary Responsibilities: * Conduct researchandupdateDOER’smedialist * Work withthe External Affairs Manager andDOER Divisions to write,edit, and distribute press releasesand other relatedcontent * Work withthe External Affairs Manager andDOER Divisions toplan, execute and publicizeevents * Assistwith social media content and graphics, includingbuilding an imagelibrary * Aggregateand analyzedata froma collection ofannual reports, and useagraphic design platformor softwaretocreate astory bookfrom thedata * Collect information and write casestudies * Conduct preparatory work in advance of a websiteredesign * Complete other tasks asneeded RequiredQualifications: * Proficientwith graphic designsoftware/platforms * Knowledge of Microsoft suite platforms (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) * Strong interpersonal skills and written and verbal communicationskills * Ability to plan, prioritize, and collaborate withotherstoaccomplishassigned workobjectives Please note that this is an HOURLY position $23.00 - $35.00 First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days.
