Communications Intern * *Mission Statement: The Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development prioritizes economic opportunity for residents, collaborative leadership in communities, and an environment that supports job creation and business growth. EOHED also supports new housing for residents through targeted investments. Program Overview: The Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development (EOHED) is offering an exciting professional work experience for an enthusiastic and motivated undergraduate or graduate student who is a Massachusetts resident or enrolled in an institution of high learning in Massachusetts. The ideal candidate would be an individual enrolled in a political science, communications, public relations, journalism, or other communication-related undergraduate or graduate program who can work on and contribute to discrete projects. The paid internship program will be a hybrid experience within EOHED’s communications team. This program will give the student an opportunity to gain valuable real-world experience in public service and additional skills in communications, social media, and public relations. Teamwork, organizational capabilities, problem-solving, and accountability are among the capabilities students will learn as part of the EOHED team. As communications intern, the student will work in an energetic, fast-paced, and ever-changing environment. The EOHED communication intern will be responsible for assisting the Director of Communications with a variety of communication-based responsibilities in areas including, but not limited to: * Assisting in research and content development for talking points and remarks * Creating written and visual content for mass.gov website * Supporting responses to media inquires * Supporting social media platforms including Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube Skills & Expertise * Excellent collaboration and team building skills * Demonstrated written communication skills * Strong verbal communication and listening skills * Demonstrated problem solving skills * Excellent organizational skills * Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite * Familiarity with social media platforms such as Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube * Must have legal work authorization in the U.S. All job applications for consideration, must be submitted online through MassCareershttps://massanf.taleo.net/careersection/ex/jobsearch.ftl.
