As a marketing co-op with the Global Customer Advocacy team, you will get an inside look at digital transformation stories as told by world-class companies and organizations. The behind-the-scenes experience will teach you the intricacies of customer relationships as well as the art of impactful and technical storytelling. With your vision, you will have opportunities to take ownership of tech rollouts and measure their success from launch. Your voice will be amplified both internally at VMware – with over 30K employees - and externally through digital marketing campaigns including corporate social media. This is a unique opportunity to balance strategy as well as execution when it comes to campaigns celebrating customer successes.
Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?
Within your first month as a marketing co-op you will meet with stakeholders throughout the customer marketing team to help plan the rollout of a customer story database.
You will assist in increasing our data accuracy and documentation within the customer story database so that it may become a self-serve platform for peer-to-peer requests.
As you get familiar with the story database, you will collaborate with colleagues and vendors to plan training materials and internal promotion for sales and marketing teams at VMware to be introduced to the tool as well as best practices for its use.
You will work closely with the amplification specialists within the customer advocacy team to draft promotional messaging for select customer highlights. These will be featured on corporate social media, in newsletters, at events, and more.
Through shadowing and analysis, you may find opportunities to optimize processes, improve reach in digital campaigns or suggest new ways to share and amplify customer stories.
The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
Your activities may be modified to suit your strengths and interests, but will likely include:
Marketing tool launch strategy documentation through PowerPoint presentations, guides, short video featurettes
Analytics on successful customer outreach
Social media post drafts for LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube etc.
Newsletter contribution management for varying franchises and business units
Campaign analysis for promoted posts on social media, display advertising and 3rd party promotion
UI/UX research and implementation for website and VMware resource pages

The head of the Global Customer Advocacy team is Jaime Mehra. Her experience bringing Customer Advocacy Managers together from teams around the world gives her a unique view of what makes a customer journey truly transformational. Her team forges strong customer relationships to empower them into becoming fierce advocates while providing opportunities to tell their stories and celebrate innovative uses of technology. This team is made up of creative problem solvers, storytellers, analysts, and activators. You will work directly with Brooke Zambroski who specializes in digital amplification. She is dedicated to promoting the testimonials, stories, videos and other assets produced with the Customer Advocacy Managers and global agencies. With teammates around the world, she will introduce you to relevant colleagues that can guide your learning and provide insight into projects you’ll be spearheading. Working on a fully virtual team can be both exciting and challenging, and the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across the Europe, Asia and the United States will give you a deep understanding of how an international company operates and serves its communities as a unified brand.
