The Research Nurse will be responsible for:
Coordination of multiple research projects for the Division of Newborn Medicine, including research studies involving the Fetal-Neonatal Neuroimaging and Developmental Science Center (FNNDSC).
Working alongside research nurses, research specialists, and research assistants as part of the Newborn Medicine Clinical Research Program.
Assisting Principal Investigators with the submission of new protocols. This includes but is not limited to editing study related documents, assisting with the completion of the electronic protocol submission, communicating with the Institutional Review Board, assisting with the development of study documents such as subject files, data entry forms, electronic databases, and standard operation manuals.
Participate in the informed consent process, eligibility and screening, conducting in-services for nursing staff participating in patient’s care. The informed consent process involves speaking with parents about studies being conducted in the NICU and other sites, describing the different studies clearly and thoroughly, and answering all of their questions.
Scheduling patient visits and logistics of coordinating study procedures as required.
Planning, organizing, and running protocol start-up meetings.
Submitting amendments and continuing reviews of current research being conducted in the department.
Carrying out all aspects of studies as well as collecting and entering data.
Maintaining regulatory documents, creating notes to file, reporting adverse events, and communicating with the Institutional Review Board.
Ensuring that all research projects are being conducted using Good Clinical Practice and adhering to hospital policies as well as the policies of outside agencies (i.e. the FDA).
Establishing relationships with patients and families and maintaining patient safety throughout all aspects of this role
To qualify, you must have:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
Minimum 1 year of clinical research experience preferred.
Minimum of 3 years clinical nursing experience. NICU experience preferred.
Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word skills.
