Wealth Management propositions are delivered via tailored offerings across the CitiGold, Citi Private Client and Citi Private Bank brands.

Description

The Citi Investment Management (CIM) Alternatives business sources and distributes “best-in-class” product solutions in Private Equity, Real Estate and Hedge Funds for the GWM division. It manages assets across various asset classes with approximately $13 billion in assets under management. CIM Alternatives manages a broad suite of investment strategies within single and multi-asset class products that are distributed globally. The COO will support the Global CIM Alternatives Head in the planning and achievement of key business goals. This will include key business initiatives as well as day-to-day business support and require coordination with functional support areas, including Technology, Operations, Legal, Risk and Compliance.

Responsibilities:

The CIM Alternatives COO directly supports the CIM Alternatives Business Head, They will manage business-planning initiatives involving multiple functional areas. They ensure that CIM Alternatives is defining and implementing

systems that are aligned with business strategy and goals. They will be responsible for end results, budgeting, planning, policy formulation and significant contribution to future strategy. The role will reinforce and support management across the COO function, with focus on fostering a culture of

controls and accountability.

  • Establish and support new business strategies and ensure effective interaction between CIM Alternatives and its functional support partners.

  • Evaluate the internal and external business environment to develop a long term vision and strategy for CIM Alternatives

  • Translate new business requirements to technology partners through continued dialogue and the review/re-negotiation of existing contracts.

  • Clarify shared accountabilities and expectations for renewed partnership terms.

  • Assess current governance framework and structure; recommend changes which maximize our effectiveness.

  • Maintain an external market outlook to evaluate alternative business models from start-up companies and key competitors.

  • Develop relationships and partnerships with such companies where necessary .

  • Develop business cases to drive strategic partnerships that give Citi a competitive advantage.

  • Partner with the Operations function and ensure appropriate support across multiple countries in multiple regions

  • Manages resources including hiring, and maintaining a diverse and effective workforce.

  • Evaluates subordinates' performance and makes recommendations for pay increases, hiring, terminations and other personnel actions.

  • Maintains effective relationships with other functional areas and Is recognized internally and externally as a subject matter expert that influences the way things are done, not only internally, but beyond the business itself.

  • Develops strategic direction of the function to harmonize with overall business objectives.

  • Impacts the business by exercising control over resources / budget, policy formulation and planning.

  • Applies a broad and comprehensive understanding in multiple functional areas

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of leadership and management in the asset management industry

  • Proven financial acumen, critical thinker with ability to provide an impartial, consultative and solutions oriented approach.

  • Strategically-minded with track record of execution excellence.

  • Executive management skills including high performing team leadership

  • Experience of working globally and across functional disciplines, including Operations and Technology, and Legal, Risk and Compliance.

  • Excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills

  • Hands-on orientation with the demonstrated ability to set up internal processes to communicate and resolve issues.

  • Proven deal/contract negotiation prowess.

  • Prior success working in a large, highly-matrix and complex organization; able to set priorities and 'triage' in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Demonstrated marketing experience

  • Knowledge of the investment management industry and technology.

  • Technical knowledge, follower-ship, in-depth knowledge of Profit and Loss (P&L) and understanding of end to end business operating systems.

  • Customer focus; record of achievement in applying a customer mindset to shape solutions and approaches

  • Knowledge of Sustainable Investing requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred

  • CFA preferred
