Job Summary

Business Process Engineer (BPE) is a key role in executing our Black & Veatch business strategy. This role leads, supports and facilitates process improvement and creation initiatives across multiple functional units for strategic and continuous process improvement efforts. This role will support business strategy and transformation to assure solutions align with strategic initiatives while driving consensus among business units including process ownership and governance. Design activities include process documentation, management and oversight of end to end workflow process analysis. In addition, assuring improved productivity, cost effectiveness, appropriate embedding of Key Performance Indicators, and appropriate controls. Provides consultative services and analytic support to business management functions leveraging best practice methodologies and tools. Focuses on work simplification, organizational design, consolidation, performance measurement, productivity improvement and expense control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in planning sessions with business owners to improve business processes and to prioritize and drive process re-engineering initiatives.

  • Access and analyze processes, data points, and controls to determine sub-optimal performance, communicate findings clearly and effectively and make recommendations for improvement.

  • Provide process and business consultation including research, analysis, facilitation, process modeling, and business process improvement techniques to propose and implement business and system solutions that meet strategic objectives.

  • Identify root causes of problems and demonstrate the ability to develop and make recommendations for solutions to mitigate root cause.

  • Analyze organization’s landscape for potential process engineering and improvement opportunities and prepares process transformation and optimization roadmap

  • Lead the definition, scoping, chartering efforts for business process analysis/design projects related to process improvement initiatives.

  • Assures optimal business and functional delivery of the objectives including business modeling, documentation of the operating blueprint and process solution blueprinting.

  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships across business functions, continuing to promote and continually broaden the level of business knowledge and the impact of quality/process improvement projects and programs.

  • Participate and support business case development process to identify change execution impacts to people, process, and technology solutions.

  • Develop continuous process improvement and business process engineering skills

  • Collaborate with release planning and implementation functions across varying divisions and business platforms.

  • Ensure all changes to processes are reflected in the repository of process documentation.

  • Helps drive towards and influence a culture of continuous process improvement.

Management Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong facilitation skills

  • Ability to build relationships and partnerships; able to leverage strength of the team to streamline efforts in defining best-in-class processes

  • Experience with American Process Quality Council (APQC) business process standards

  • Experience with leading implementation of model-based digital transformation practices

  • Expertise in architecture and modeling tools, such as Business Process Modeler, and model-based systems engineering practices

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to use statistical assessment to quantify opportunities and to achieve process optimization

  • Knowledge of the roles and deployment of change execution

  • Strong understanding of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) domain

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field (Engineering, Information Technology or Business Operations) OR, equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience: 10+ years of experience in process analysis, design and improvement for medium or large organizations
