We deliver programs to all residents of Massachusetts and at every stage of their lives, regardless of their economic background. We also offer initiatives tailored to meet the unique financial experiences of veterans, women, high school students, and older adults. The Economic Empowerment Trust Fund is a recognized 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization. The Fund is governed by a 19-member board and chaired by the Treasurer. Its mission is to advance economic opportunity for Massachusetts residents and families, launching programs that provide the tools and resources people need to invest in their own financial futures. By leveraging philanthropic investments, the Trust Fund aims to build a robust public-private partnership to address areas of greatest economic need across the Commonwealth. The Trust Fund serves as the vehicle to provide the funding necessary to execute the Office of Economic Empowerment’s mission. * More information about our office can be found on our website. *_PURPOSE OF THE JOB_ The Office of Economic Empowerment is seeking a Business Manager to join its dynamic team. This position will report to the Executive Director of OEE and will manage the financial and administrative functions of the Economic Empowerment Trust Fund, a recognized 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization that is housed within the department. This position will also manage the business operations for the Office of Economic Empowerment and provide support to the Executive Director. _ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES_ Accounting and Financial Management * Manage the financial activities and reporting for Economic Empowerment Trust Fund. * Coordinates with the grant writer in the tracking and monitoring of gifts, donations, and other revenue streams. * Prepares organizational budgets for Trust Fund Meetings, grant applications, and as requested by the Director or CFO. * Work with the internal auditor and accounting firm on annual tax preparation including reviews and audits, review all tax documents including but not limited to Form 990 and Form PC prior to filing. Administrative and Department Operations * Manage the administration functions of the Economic Empowerment Trust Fund, serve as a point of contact for Board Members; and post notices for all Board Meetings in accordance with Open Meeting Law; * Supervise student interns and serve as point of contact for Human Resources for intern recruitment; * Serve as point person for the OEE calendar including but not limited to: assisting with the Executive Director's schedule, organizing recurring OEE meetings, and responding to meeting and speaking requests received by OEE for the Treasurer and Executive Director. _OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES_ * Act as a liaison between department head and other Treasury Departments; * Assist with letters sent by the Treasurer, Executive Director, and Trust Fund; scan and distribute in accordance with departmental communication protocol; * Participates in meetings, working groups, both internal and externally as assigned by the Director; * Other duties as assigned. _KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS_ * Bachelor’s Degree preferred; * Minimum 3-5 years related experience; experience with bookkeeping and knowledge of general accounting principles required; * Experience with QuickBooks Required; * Experience with Office 365 including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook preferred; * Excellent writing and communications skills; * Outstanding interpersonal skills; * Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills; * Ability to travel throughout the Commonwealth when needed.
