The Business Applications Industry Architect will be aligned to a specific industry (FSI, Retail/CPG, Manufacturing, Healthcare or Public Sector) and will drive the industry sales strategy, GTM propositions and feedback loop with Industry Cloud teams. The role will partner with the Industry Sales, Engineering and Marketing teams to enable field sales teams and partners to deliver repeatable industry specific business outcomes. The role will also support the Global Black-Belt (GBB) Sales, Business Value and Tech Specialist resources on the most strategic engagements across the globe.


  • Partner with customer CIOs/CTOs/CDOs on their technology transformation and incorporating Microsoft Business Applications into their ecosystem.

  • Deep engagement on the Microsoft Catalyst Envisioning and Solution Assessment activities to land the value of the Microsoft Cloud.

  • Drive repeatability by creating Business Applications reference architectures and use cases by industry spanning the breadth of the Dynamics 365 and Power Platform portfolio.

  • Support field sales and partners on positioning the value of the Microsoft D365 SaaS offerings vs custom solution or competitive products, and guide customers on how to tailor, extend and integrate those applications with the Power Platform.

  • As a part of the Business Applications Solution and Industry Architecture team, collectively channel customer and partner feedback around our industry propositions to identify technical gaps and partner with Engineering on resolving them.

  • Partner with the Product Marketing and GTM Enablement Teams to drive repeatability and best practices at scale.

  • Be the face of Microsoft Business Applications with all appropriate external and internal technical stakeholders aligned by industry – establishing themselves as an industry thought leader.


  • 12+ years of experience in sales (partner or customer) with industry specific experience in FSI, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Retail/CPG or Public Sector.

  • Strong technical background ideally as a technical sales leader, technology consultant focused on business process transformation, or an end-customer CTO or CIO (or similar).

  • Experience in developing industry aligned solutions including product engineering, custom-built solutions, or reference architectures to drive repeatability and scale.

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a loosely structured team environment that demands a high degree of cooperation, flexibility, teaming, cross group and real-time responsiveness.

  • Experience in dealing with senior stakeholders with strong networking and influencing skills.

  • Creative thinker who can see “the big picture” and unite new and disparate ideas with practical plans, working comfortably in the face of ambiguity and in a matrixed enterprise organization.

  • Has the ability to clearly prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks and projects in parallel and effectively achieve results through a largely indirect group of internal Microsoft stakeholders.

  • Good communication, and ability to present complex industry concepts internally (e.g., to Sales teams) and externally (in front of senior client or at events). Possess excellent listening skills and proficient oral and written communications.

  • Have a passion and interest in multi-cultural issues, and the growing impact of developing economies on global business trends.
