About the role

At AIG, our General Insurance business success is built on developing strong relationships with our broker trading partners and clients. Join our fast-growing Distribution/ Field Operations team as a Territory Distribution Leader supporting the New England Region and be a part of the journey. We're looking for a Boston MA based individual to collaborate with retail/ wholesale distribution partners and develop retention and new business production strategies across our commercial insurance product portfolio. The responsibilities will involve management of key retail / wholesale broker relationships in the New England Region focusing on the following geographic markets: Boston MA, Providence RI, southern NH, and Portland ME. The candidate will have a proven ability to align and influence internal and external stakeholders, communicate well, be a patient listener, build a sustainable coalition, negotiate well, and be tolerant of ambiguity. Key attributes for the role include leadership, self-starter, entrepreneurial, creativity, collaboration, alignment, accountability, strong influential skills, presence, vision, and broad insurance knowledge.

Performance Objectives:

Boston Territory Distribution Leader

Driving Profitable Growth:

  • In partnership with your direct manager, drive new business sales growth year over year on both a financial and policy basis

  • Lead successful premium and account retention strategies within the defined broker portfolio. Develop plans to improve portfolio and account performance, enhance service and strengthen external relationships.

  • Drive the AIG value proposition and ensure that clients are aware of the array of products, services and solutions (enterprise-wide) available.

    Establishing Operational Excellence:

  • Partner with direct manager and product leadership to identify and develop broker sales and retention strategies. Develop and implement collaborative marketing strategies to achieve business production and performance goals for the Region.

  • Build valuable relationships with key broker personnel. Serve as the senior AIG point of contact for key broker partners.

  • Formulate Strategic Business Plans with brokers in order to identify critical client focus areas, existing AIG alignment and forward looking opportunities for increased partnership.

  • Identify and maintain regular collaborative dialogue with key business influencers at major brokerage operations.

  • Regional Production – in partnership with direct manager, hold pipeline discussions on account prospects by collaborating with product leaders on identifying targeted lines, by account, and develop executable strategies; drive growth with focus on most profitable lines.

  • Segment Influence – for new business and renewal retention, drive the positioning and negotiations internally and externally in order to ‘close the deal’ and deliver a profitable transaction to the company.

  • Account Penetration – execute upon cross-selling strategy between lines of business to improve target submission flow for prospects.

  • Support your Zonal leadership team as needed with various region / zone projects, executive visits, external sponsorship's, broker initiatives, etc.

    The Ideal Candidate Should Have:

  • 7+ years of diverse commercial insurance industry experience preferred.

  • A proven business development background in insurance with existing broker relationships for the noted geographic areas preferred. Underwriting, brokerage, or financial services sales and account management experience is a plus.

  • Account management skills and experience in successfully building strong and enduring relationships with colleagues, insureds and brokers.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to effectively present to both small and large groups.

  • Must be able to multitask, excellent organizational skills, along with problem solving and leaderships traits required
