A Business Development (BD) Manager is an experienced sales executive that will develop new business with a client base that includes energy companies, technology vendors, service providers, the investor community, industry organizations, and government agencies. This BD Manager role is an excellent opportunity for a highly-motivated and talented salesperson to make a strong contribution to a fast-growing business. The primary focus of the BD Manager will be to sell subscription-based research services, data services, in-depth market research reports, and custom research engagements.
Identify new customers and prospects within key sectors of the energy industry relevantto Navigant Research’s seven technology verticals: Building Innovations, DER Solutions, Digital Energy, Distributed Generation, Energy Storage, Transportation Electrification, Urban Transformations
Work with Navigant Research’s industry analysts and management to develop and execute asales plan for each of the company’s market research products
Pursue leads and prospects identified by the research and marketing teams
Close transactional sales for near-term revenue while also laying the groundwork fordeeper client relationships in the future
Provide high-quality customer support to clients
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related higher education
5+ years of significant sales (B2B) or business development experience with a proven track record of successful development and outside sales.
Excellent presentation skills and executive presence.
Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
Strong detail oriented organizational skills.
Strong relationship building capabilities.
Complete proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
Proven ability to create proposals and close sales based on thoughtful analysis of customer needs and expectations.
Abilty to handle frequent outside sales work.
Ability to travel as required.
Frequently communicates with clients and coworkers and must be able to share information effectively
Strong conceptual, as well as quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
Work as a member of a team as well as be a self-motivator with ability to work independently
Flexibility and responsiveness in managing multiple projects in sometimes high-pressure situations simultaneously
Able to travel via airplane with minimal assistance to client sites across the US and potentially internationally
Regularly uses close visual acuity and operates computer equipment to prepare and analyze and transmit data
