Alexion Pharmaceuticals Associate Director, Therapeutic Area Compliance Business Partner in Boston, Massachusetts

This is what you will do:

The Therapeutic Area Compliance Business Partner is the primary strategic advisor to an Alexion AstraZeneca Rare Disease Unit (“RDU”) Therapeutic Area Business Unit. The Compliance Business Partner is the primary business partner to the VP/Business Unit Lead. Reporting to the Executive Director, Head of US Compliance, the Compliance Business Partner serves as a member of business leadership teams while supporting the Company’s overall global compliance strategy and culture.

You will be responsible for:

  • Serves as a Compliance subject matter expert for the Business Unit and partners with Business Unit leadership to set the strategic tone and align tactical direction for the organization.

  • Develops targeted guidance, policies, and training to address Therapeutic Area needs.

  • Supports key strategic approaches for compliance across the Commercial organization.

  • Provides change management and cultural leadership to the Business Unit through the continued implementation and maturation of the compliance program.

  • Serves as partner for compliance investigations and audits. Develops appropriate responses to investigations and audits, including remedial measures.

  • Collaborates across departments to enhance, from an ethics and compliance perspective, business operations.

  • Performs monitoring activities of conferences and other commercial activities.

  • Develops formal and informal communications to deliver compliance program key messages and build integrity culture.

  • Maintains updated understanding of requirements around DOJ and OIG reporting requirements

    You will need to have:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry in a commercial, medical affairs, compliance, legal or regulatory related role, or experience in a consulting or law firm working with clients on compliance programs.

  • Knowledge of Pharmaceutical industry regulations.

  • Expertise in the U.S. Biotechnology / Pharmaceutical industry and therapeutic areas, as well as the nuances of the business culture that impact business processes and compliance.

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated track record and ability to drive results as an effective a team member and leader in a matrixed organization. Proven ability to consult and advise, demonstrating both compliance and commercial acumen. Strong sense of ethics and responsibility.

  • Approximately 10% - 15% travel expected but may change dependent on business need.

  • The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment. As is typical of an office-based role, employees must be able, with or without an accommodation to use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; engage in problem solving and no-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours

    We would prefer for you to have:

  • Prior pharmaceutical commercial and/or medical affairs experience, or prior in-house pharmaceutical compliance experience

  • MBA and/or Compliance Professional certification

  • Ability to work collaboratively with other leaders, and with external partners. Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing conditions
