We are one of Boston's oldest and most respected philanthropic organizations and we are currently seeking an Associate Director, Participation Campaign.

The Associate Director, Participation Campaign develops and oversees implementation of direct marketing plans for CJP’s annual Participation Campaign, including donors under $1k as well as selected donors up to $25k. Manages direct mail, telemarketing, and online solicitations for Participation Campaign and all fundraising efforts for the New England Holocaust Memorial. The Associate Director is responsible for the successful implementation of multichannel appeals, including day-to-day project management of campaigns, and reporting fundraising results.

This position builds and leads direct marketing strategy and tactics that drive donor acquisition and retention for this crucial fundraising segment with the goal of increasing philanthropic support and overall participation in CJP’s fundraising efforts. By using industry best practices in direct marketing and CJP’s messaging platform, the Associate Director, Participation Campaign ensures the engagement and giving of thousands of donors annually.

Essential Functions:

• Responsible for planning, production and execution of annual direct mailings, telemarketing and text promotions, as well as solicitation emails and social media campaigns for CJP and the New England Holocaust Memorial throughout the campaign year, working in close partnership with colleagues across development and marketing.

• Develops in-house database segmentation, edits copy for specific mailing segments based on donor-centric language, and works closely with Creative team and outside production vendors.

• Responsible for researching and developing innovative tests to pilot new methods of reaching target audience, based on best practices and learnings.

• Partners with Director, Donor Communications to develop and implement a comprehensive plan to provide an appropriate level of stewardship for Participation Campaign donors through mailings, emails, and thank-you calls for new and recovered lapsed donors.

• Works with the Data, Strategy & Insights team to maintain clean, accurate, and up-to-date records in Maven, CJP’s constituent relationship management system, including regular data hygiene appends and NCOA updates.

• Performs a variety of analytical tasks including in-depth response analysis, segment reporting, fundraising forecasting. Utilizes insights in the development of complex criteria and strategies for targeted and variable segmentation.

• Develops the participation campaign budget, interprets fundraising results, manages all costs, identifies cost cutting methods, and makes budgetary recommendations for all direct marketing efforts.

• Hires and manages mail house and telemarketing vendors on all direct mail and telemarketing planning, production, merge/purge process, postal requirements, budgets, and billing.

• Serves as a point of contact for donors not in a managed donor portfolio, responding to email and phone outreach as needed.

• Performs personal solicitation and stewardship outreach as needed in alignment with overall segment strategies.

Requirements

Education:

• BA/BS degree in marketing, communications or equivalent.

Experience:

• 5-7 years of marketing and/or development experience. Direct marketing preferred.

Skills/Competencies:

• Advanced knowledge of marketing, telemarketing, direct mail, market research, and analysis.

• Expert knowledge of mail house production, merge/purge, postal regulations, database/list segmentation.

• Excellent critical thinking, judgment, problem solving and analytical skills.

• Strong comfort level with databases and fundraising software.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality.

• Knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel and Databases.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong organizational skills, capacity to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and attention to detail.

• Must be able to work independently.

• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, work independently and under pressure.

• Ability to follow through on projects to their completion.

• Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changes and shifting priorities.

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid Work Schedule: Tuesdays and Wednesdays in office work is required; Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays remote work option applies.

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods, much of which will be working at a computer.

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
