ADL Associate Director of Policy in Boston, Massachusetts

POSITION TITLE: Associate Director of Policy

REPORTS TO: Director of Policy, East Division


LOCATION: Boston, CT, NYC, or Philadelphia

Grade/Class: Grade F, Exempt, PSA-Eligible

As a member of the East Divisional team, the Associate Director of Policy will be responsible for activating ADL’s base of supporters with actions that achieve organizational objectives pertaining to antisemitism, hate, and domestic extremism. The role provides support to ADL’s advocacy work through building out issue-based campaigns while growing ADL’s organizational reach through strategic partnership building.


  • Build strategic and inclusive issue-based campaigns and coalitions through activation of ADL core supporters.

  • Train ADL constituents and supporters on effective advocacy skills.

  • Collaborate with divisional and regional teams on planning and execution of state-based legislation and local government initiatives.

  • Identify and build organizational partnerships in key advocacy spaces.

  • Lead and manage ADL volunteers in coordination with regional offices.

  • Identify and implement technological tools to activate constituents.

  • Assist in the planning and execution of state level advocacy days.


  • Monitor and track relevant legislation in the relevant states, providing weekly reports to regional and divisional teams.

  • Provide logistical support for community engagement activities.

  • Assist in state legislative research.

  • Creation of organizational materials and advocacy tools for public distribution.

  • Collaborate with ADL Government Relations team.


  • Experience working with a diverse set of stakeholders and maintaining relationships.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

  • Experience working and organizing campaigns around advocacy including a proven track record of driving initiatives and projects to completion.

  • Excellent communications skills - including verbal and written.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Knowledge in the state and federal legislative process.

  • Ability to translate dense and complicated information for a broader audience.

  • Graphic design experience a plus.

    Work Experience:

  • The ideal candidate has several years’ experience in community organizing or on other issue-based campaigns with a demonstrable increase in skill and responsibility.

  • Previous experience advocating and working with elected officials is required.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, or related field, or equivalent experience required.

Work Environment:

  • ADL COVID-19 Protocol (updated periodically): ADL is adhering to public health guidance regarding COVID-19. ADL is a hybrid environment; this role may require 3 days in the office.


  • This position has a salary range of $56,000 to $75,000. Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
