Suffolk University, founded in 1906, has a growing alumni population of over 9 0 ,000. The Division of Advancement has achieved significant fundraising success in the past seve ral years and has surpassed several fundraising records and alumni and donor engagement goals. Reporting to the Director of A nnual Giving, the Associate Director of Annual Giving will work hand in hand with the Director to plan and execut e an annual fundraising program including leading digital engagement efforts and managing the Student Philanthropy and Engagement Center .

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with the Director of Annual Giving and Advancement colleagues on creating and executing a plan to grow the donor count and financial support for Suffolk University in line with the University's strategic plan and funding priorities

  • Develop digital fundraising assets including videos, social media posts, emails, and online giving websites and donation forms

  • Assist in the p lan ning and implement ing of Suffolk’s annual Day of Giving including developing the online crowdfunding site using the GiveCampus platform

  • Manage the Student Philanthropy and Engagement Center including : recruiting, hiring, onboarding/training, supervising , and motivating student employees to conduct solicitation and stewardship outreach

  • Support campus partners in the development of online giving programs

  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with faculty, staff, and students across multiple departments, schools, and colleges within the university

  • Manage the anniversary renewal program

  • Manage a portfolio of annual giving donors and prospects

  • Remain up to date on annual fundraising strategies and trends

  • Attend Advancement events, webinars, and meetings throughout the University

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • 3 + years of experience in development/advancement with experience in fundraising and digital engagement

  • Possess a keen and authentic interest in making a significant impact at Suffolk in support of the University’s mission through fundraising

  • E xperience working with diverse populations and a strong commitment to helping develop and implement the University’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion policies and goals

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to persuade and inspire

  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven, and goal-oriented environment, simultaneously balancing diverse responsibilities

  • Ability to coordinate with multiple departments and work both collaboratively and independently.

  • Demonstrated writing and editing capabilities

  • Ability to take initiative, be creative, and attentive to detail

  • Ability to handle sensitive materials in a confidential manner and to maintain data integrity

  • Success with developing and sustaining relationships with donors and volunteers.

  • Co mmitted to providing the highest level of customer service and responsiveness.

  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office , especially Excel

  • Experience in making cold calls as well as developing cultivation and solicitation strategies.

  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends for University and alumni events.

  • Ability to take on additional duties as assigned.

    PREFERRED :

  • Knowledge of Raisers Edge NXT or similar fundraising platform

  • Experience supervising students, setting fundraising goals, and working in student philanthropy
