REPORTS TO: Electrical Supervisor POSITION OVERVIEW: Under the supervision of the Electrical Supervisor, the Assistant Supervisor of Electrical Installation and Maintenance assists in the testing and fire inspection of the fire alarm, intercom and other low tension systems. RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in testing, inspecting and making minor repairs to low tension systems, emergency lighting systems, including units and generating plants. Assist in preparation of specifications for minor repairs or alterations to the above electrical systems. Assist in reviewing requisitions relative to the electrical systems listed above and determine if work is necessary. Assist in calculating estimates of the costs involved in making repairs and alterations to the electrical systems. Assist in preparing specifications for proposed work. Perform other related duties as directed by the Electrical Supervisor. Assist with management of Security Card Access Systems, authorization and scheduling of building access schedules and programs. Print and program access cards for new and existing camera systems. Assist in long range planning for upgrades, replacements and installations of all security and camera systems. Qualifications: Required: High School Diploma or G.E.D. Basic knowledge of electrical systems Basic knowledge of testing of fire alarm systems Basic knowledge of Security and Surveillance Camera Systems Basic computer skills required Valid MA Drivers License Preferred: 5 years experience in electrical installations, maintenance and repairs MA Licensed Electrician Journeyman Electricians License or 2 years experience with electrical or low tension systems. This position is subject to the City of Boston residency ordinance.
