American Express Analyst - US Regulatory Relations in Boston, Massachusetts


American Express and our U.S. regulatory agencies, as well as driving operational excellence in all regulatory interactions. This team coordinates and guides dialogue which leads to a greater understanding of regulatory expectations within AXP/AENB, and the demonstration of such to the examiner community.

The team is organized to specific risk profile areas to enable specialization, focus, and dedicated attention to the applicable internal teams, and corresponding regulators. These areas include Compliance and Finance, Technology, Data Governance and Vendor Affiliates and Enterprise Risk Management, Fraud, Credit and Operational Risk, as well as Reporting and Communications.

The Analyst of US Regulatory Relations (USRR) – Reporting & Communications Team is responsible for a suite of ongoing and ad-hoc regulatory reporting, communications, and analytics. This person will be in charge of gathering insights and developing reports for C-Suite executives, Board of Directors, as well as stakeholders across the organization. Special ad-hoc projects may be assigned.

The role will work closely with colleagues from USRR Continuous Monitoring Teams as well as the Global Risk & Compliance Regulatory Exam Lifecycle Management (RELM) to gather critical information and insights for our various reports and communications to ensure consistent messaging is shared with key stakeholders across all businesses and functions, which will help facilitate a seamless and cohesive experience for regulators when interacting with American Express.

The Analyst will also manage and conduct the QA process of regulatory information requests and the regulatory data maintained in internal repository to ensure compliance with standards and procedures.

  • Developweekly, monthly and quarterly reporting to Senior Management and Regulators by working effectively with internal partners across the organization.

  • Gather insights, with use of data analytics to identify key thematic trends in regulatory activities.

  • Develop Committee and Board level materials and other regulatory-required documentation within tight deadlines.

  • Manage and conductthe QA process of Regulators’ requests for information as outlined in the performance standards.

  • Manageand conduct the QA process of regulatory data entries within the Regulatory Engagement Platform (Archer) as outlined in the RELM procedures.

  • Compile Daily News Updates containing all relevant regulatory and industry specific updates from the previous news cycle.

  • Workingindividuallyandwithteamsonbothstructuredandunstructuredassignments.

  • Developandmanagedatarepositoryandmetricsfortheteam.


  • 2 years of relevant experience preferred

  • Proven experience and strong skills in preparing comprehensive and effective presentation materials

  • Strong excel and data visualization skills

  • Highly motivated self-starter with great personal accountability

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Intellectually curious and creative; possess a growth mind-set

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment

  • Highly organized and great attention to detail

  • Work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment and able to manage several deliverables simultaneously; operate with a sense of urgency

  • Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously with little to no direction and escalate issues appropriately and in a timely manner

  • Strong inter-personal skills and a high level of business maturity; able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships across organizations

  • Prior regulatory management and legal background a plus

  • Bachelor's degree required
