Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is for a Systems Manufacturing Engineering for new products being transitioned into operations and responsible for technical issues regarding exiting products being built in production. Work with the MfgEng team and with the engineering group in the release of new products and support of existing products including manufacturing process and design improvements. Provide guidance regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing methods.

Expected to be able to solve design level problems with engineering support as required. Take ownership of product/processes and give technical direction to technicians. Required to work Hands On with the production floor team solving system problems as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

On transitioning a new product, be able to analyze design issues and offer solutions Determine and develop the method, operations sequence, and tooling of new and existing infrared products. Review, comment and sign-off on new product designs and adapt design changes for Manufacturing implementation.

Assist in the transition of products from Design to Production ensuring Design for Manufacturability is considered. Daily production floor support on complex electro-mechanical assemblies. Work with vendors and process assembly documentation issues. Participate in the review and approval of all ECO's for products being supported. Provide fixturing to ensure testability of all existing and future products. On a continuous basis, liaison with Engineering to maintain knowledge of new developments as they pertain to future products and processes. Constantly review product flow and processes and develop changes to improve manufacturability. Maintain records for coordination of manufacturing operations. Estimate manufacturing costs and time standards.

REQUIREMENTS:

Requires a BSME/BSEE and at least 4 years’ experience in manufacturing technical support and new product introduction is required.

This experience must include involvement with the project from design release to transfer to manufacturing. Must have experience with optical-based products, portable instruments and/or infrared technology. Must have strong computer skills and proficient in the use of CAD design packages such as Solidworks.
