The Sr. Motion Control Systems & Servo Engineer will provide motion control support to the organization through process planning, design, execution, and customer interaction. Primary focus of this role involves system level design, programming and debugging of highly accurate motion systems and human machine interfaces. Specific competence in closed loop servo analysis, modeling, design as well as digital control of motion systems using microprocessor and DSP (Digital Signal Processor) control is highly desirable.
Work with advanced multi-axis open and closed loop motion control systems using BLDC and DC motors.
Design and implementation of Kalman filters.
Board design including generation of block diagrams and schematics.
Develop real-time embedded firmware and electronics for realization of advanced high complexity control systems (C, Matlab, C++).
PCB design; generate schematics and provide guidance to PCB designers.
Develop and deploy advanced embedded control system technologies to meet the high-density tracking, performance, and reliability requirements of tactical stabilized electro optic ISR systems.
Develop real-time embedded firmware and electronics for realization of advanced high complexity control systems.
Specification, integration, and validation of electronic and electrical systems to enable realization of the control system requirements.
Develop, test and integrate algorithms for position feedback tracking control, vibration compensation, motor control, servo pattern demodulation and seek waveform generation.
Develop and maintain processes for design and validation of embedded control systems.
Provide industry specific application knowledge and direction, review requirement and design specifications, and maintain Customer Specifications and logging of deviations.
Present product features and benefits to customers.
Provide support for product development.
Develop tools and integration strategies to increase effectiveness and lower cost, investigate and suggest process and technology enhancements.
Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics or equivalent with 8+ years of proven design experience.
Demonstrated experience in real-time embedded firmware design.
Demonstrated experience in object oriented programming and embedded system integration experience.
Advanced Matlab and C programming experience.
Ability to manage technical solutions to minimize costs while maintaining reliability.
Knowledge of Motion Control Theory: Open/Closed Loop, PID and advanced tuning methods using DSP’s, FPGA’s and micro-processor.
Significant experience working with advanced multi-axis open and closed loop motion control systems using BLDC and DC motors.
Knowledge of feedback sensors including encoders, gyro, resolvers, optical encoders and accelerometers.
Analog and digital design skills with the ability to perform PCB design generating schematics and providing guidance to PCB designers.
PLC/HMI programming experience.
Board design experience including generation of block diagrams and schematics.
Accomplished lab skills, including operation of oscilloscopes, trace tools, data collection tools, and data analysis techniques.
Experience and ability to engage customers, identify needs/requirements, and coordinate solutions in house and with customer.
Strong communication and technical leadership skills.
